Top 10 North America Excursions

Northern America and Canada are home to many of the world's most visited places and it's clear why. Breathtaking cities, beautiful harbours, and culturally enriched States make a visit here the ultimate holiday. Whether you want to experience the busyness of New York, the sunshine of Miami, or the landscapes of Canada, be sure to get your exploring hat on! A range of great shore excursions are available - here are our favourites.

1. Statue of Liberty, New York

Statue Of Liberty
One of the most iconic statues in the world, we highly recommend a tour to take a closer look and learn more about this fascinating monument. Once you board your ferry and sail past the amazing skyline of New York City you will arrive at Liberty Island, where you will stand right next to the Statue of Liberty.  The ferry is free, and worthwhile on a nice day, even if you don't get to the statue!  Your guide will tell you the history behind Lady Liberty, as well as walk you around the grounds, pointing out the main points of interest. This tour is great for those that want to get closer to the action, rather than just view the statue from afar.

P&O Cruises can take you to the Statue of Liberty. See all P&O Cruises to North America.

Boston
Boston is one of America's favourite cities and boasts an array of beautiful sights and interesting history, as well as hosting a variety of events. There is no better way to experience all that Boston has to offer than on a Duck Tour.  More than just a city tour, be prepared for a journey like you’ve never had before! As you board the ‘Duck’ you will take a scenic drive around this amazing city, giving you the opportunity to see Boston’s most famous landmarks such as the golden-domed Massachusetts State House, the impressive Government Centre, and Prudential Tower. The real thrill comes when the ‘Duck’ drives right into the Charles River for a breath-taking sail along the amazing Boston skyline. Be prepared for an exciting day of adventure and sightseeing!

Miami Everglades
Florida’s Everglades are one of the most fascinating things to see in the state, and we whole-heartedly recommend this airboat tour if your cruise stops in Miami or Fort Lauderdale. Controlled by an experienced captain, the vessel will glide over the everglades and give you the opportunity to see all kinds of wildlife, including the famous Florida gators. During the ride you will get to hear tales of the history behind this charmed area, as well as learn about how the eco-system works.

alcatraz-excursion
Feed your curiosity and visit the infamous Alcatraz Island. The history of the place dates back to 1868, when it was developed for military use as a fort and military prison - it didn't become a federal prison until 1934. Before closing in 1963, Alcatraz held some of the United States' most dangerous and well-known criminals, including infamous gangster Al Capone. Explore the barracks, cellblock, morgue, and surrounding grounds to uncover the legends from prison days, and see evidence of the Native American protest that occured here between 1969 and 1971 as well.

6. Bing Pink Bus, Halifax

Halifax
Halifax is the most visited historic site in Canada, a fact which is not surprising considering its picturesque views, urban feel, and wide variety of visitor attractions. Due to Halifax being the home of so many things to see, we recommend taking the Big Pink Bus Tour, allowing you to see as much as possible in just one day. The bus is an authentic London double decker that has been coloured pink to support breast cancer. Taking you on a journey all around the city, it allows you to get off at various locations such as the Halifax Citadel and Maritime Museum. You will have the option to complete the whole tour at once, or you can get off and on at various points, allowing you to further enjoy any places where you want to spend more time.
