Accessibility at Iglu Cruise
At Iglu Cruise, we are dedicated to providing an accessible and inclusive online experience for all our users, including those with disabilities. We are committed to ensuring that everyone can easily navigate and interact with our website and book a cruise, online or on the phone.
Our Commitment to Accessibility:
- Our cross-functional product teams prioritise building user-friendly products for everyone. Accessibility is a key consideration in our goal-setting, test requirements, and design personas.
- We conduct weekly automated testing to identify potential non-compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and we allocate dedicated developer time to address any issues that arise.
- We perform internal accessibility audits of our website every week and schedule time to resolve any identified accessibility barriers. For every significant code or design change, we also conduct manual accessibility audits for that area to review how the changes impact usability.
- We actively engage with users with disabilities through dedicated user interviews and integrate questions about accessibility requirements into our broader user research processes.
- While our website offers basic support for screen readers and voice-assisted technologies such as NVDA, VoiceOver and TalkBack, the complexity of booking a cruise holiday means that the most effective way for users with visual disabilities to obtain detailed information or make a booking is to contact us directly. Our knowledgeable cruise experts are well-informed about accessibility features for each one of the ships you can book through us and can provide personalised assistance based on your needs.

Cruises and Accessibility
When booking a cruise, we help our customers to consider the following important accessibility aspects:
Ongoing Commitment
Whilst we are continuously working to improve the accessibility of our website and ensure that all users have an equal opportunity to access and interact with our content. We acknowledge that some parts of our website are not yet fully accessible, and we have prioritised our efforts based on user analytics.
Currently, the Iglu Cruise website is partially compliant with accessibility standards, and we are aware of the following accessibility limitations:
- The map magnification on the itinerary page is limited due to the underlying technology that’s currently being used.
- Ship deck plans are bitmap images and are not accessible to screen readers.
- Some images on the website lack of meaningful alternative text.
- Although keyboard navigation is possible with a screen reader, inconsistent focus highlighting in some areas may hinder navigation, particularly on pages with many links.
- There is currently no direct way to skip to the main content while using keyboard navigation.
- Some website modals are not fully optimised for keyboard navigation.
Ensuring Website Accessibility: Our Testing Process
- We conduct weekly automated testing to identify potential WCAG non-compliance. Actionable insights are documented as tickets by our UX designers and subsequently prioritised by our product owners based on severity.
- Every software change we deploy to live is tested by the whole team with accessibility considerations in mind.
- Our UX designers conduct an annual manual audit of the website using keyboard navigation and native screen reader technology. This audit is also performed following significant code changes within specific sections.
How do we remediate accessibility issues?
- When an accessibility issue or non-compliance is detected, following direct feedback or automated scanning of our website, a ticket is created and is prioritised by product owners of different teams as part of their strategy.
- The planned remediation for these identified issues is part of our broader website update plan. In the meantime, if you encounter any difficulties, please do not hesitate to contact us via phone ( 020 3514 3286 ), and one of our dedicated cruise specialists will be happy to assist you with any queries or help you book your cruise.
