The city truly is an abundance of beauty and chosen by many as their favourite holiday destination due to its famous beaches, luxurious hotels, range of shopping and amazing choice of restaurants. Having become one of the busiest cruise ports in the world there is now a wide range of cruise lines and itineraries available here. With the port being so convenient to get to and so close to the main tourist spots it is a perfect destination to be explored before or after your cruise.

The port itself, named Port Everglades is literally across the road from Fort Lauderdale airport and a taxi fare from here to the port takes around 10 minutes and should cost no more than $15, however also conveniently reached from Miami International airport by a taxi will take around 40 minutes and cost no more than $40. Most cruise lines offer transfers to and from both airports and almost all the surrounding hotels will provide shuttles.

Made up of several terminals Port Everglades is very well sign posted and make boarding your cruise ship very easy. There are spaces for taxis and transfers to drop you right outside your ship and porters to help you with your luggage.

Port Everglades also boasts the world’s largest cruise terminal, Terminal 18, which was opened in November 2009 especially to serve the Oasis of the Seas and the Allure of the Seas, the largest ships in the world. Terminal 18 was designed to allow guests to check in and board the ship in 15 minutes.
