Best time for cruises from Boston

When it comes to embarking on cruises from Boston and picking the right time of year to do so, it’s important to think about where you’re going. With many itineraries departing this cruise port heading to destinations in New England and Canada’s east coast, you may want to consider cruises departing during September and October.

These autumnal months are when the weather is most agreeable, cruises and tourist hotspots are less crowded, and cruise fares are potentially more affordable. The idyllic golden-brown foliage that comes with autumn also makes the landscapes you’ll encounter here even more stunning than usual.

However, those heading further south – such as to the Caribbean – will want to travel during the winter months. The prices may be a little higher during these months, but you’ll get more enjoyment out of the attractions you’ll encounter on shore excursions during these months, and the weather will be warm enough to enjoy sun-soaking and lounging on the region’s numerous sandy beaches.

Boston Cruise Terminal

Boston Cruise Port is serviced by the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal which has three berths. Short term parking for taxis is available, as well as long-term parking if needed and is only 20 minutes by car from Boston Logan International Airport. Alternatively, you can get the SL1 bus through the Ted Williams Tunnel to the World Trade Center and then change to the SL2 line which goes direct to the terminal. Buses come every 12 minutes approximately, so the whole journey takes between 30 to 45 minutes depending on connections. The terminal only has basic facilities such as a lounge area and toilets so if you wish to eat or pass the time before or after boarding, it’s best to check out the harbour areas or Boston city centre itself.
