Norwegian Getaway Reviews
View Cruise DealsExcellent choice of entertainment & restaurants. Loved the little extras such as virtual darts & skittles (small fee for these). The IceBar was fun to do and included two drinks per person (extra charge). Different to have O'Sheehan's bar open 24/7 for drinks & food rather than buffet (not open 24/7). Food in here was just as fresh & tasty at breakfast as it was at midnight. Plenty on tables free most of the time. Ate at three of the speciality dinning as part of our package - worth the extra, though not sure good value if paid onboard prices. Cabin was spacious - smallest balcony we've ever had, with just enough room for two small chairs & stool/table. Wardrobe was very close to side of the bed, leaving little room to access clothes/shoes stored in there. We are not fans of large ships for reasons such as tender bookings, disembarkation at ports, large queues for restaurants etc, though none of these were an issue. Use the app wisely and you'll usually manage to get show & restaurant bookings without any problem. Drinks onboard were well above average and made fresh to order. Pity the weather was wet and windy - would have loved to use the outdoor waterpark areas & climbing trail. Hot tubs and pool open when weather permitting.
While we enjoyed our cruise we found there was a lot of cut back s .
Lovely ship. Staff are very helpful and pleasant. Fiid was excellent. The excursions were a let down for me. Disorganised in the auditorium on the first day instead of people sitting in allocated excusion area (left, middle and right) everyone was mixed up which caused congestion. People dont listen or ignore instructions given by the crew. New Bruswick was a very poor stop. Halifax was lovely and I personally really enjoyed Boston and Newport. Ship was very clean, comfortable beds, nice size balcony cabin.
My second time on Getaway. It has been refurbished since and it looks clean and bright. Wonderful service from the staff on board. Great itinerary.
Great ship - I‘be sailed on Getaway 3 times now. Fab staff and service on board. Everything still looks fresh and clean since the refurb.
An amazing cruise, some fab places visited and just great entertainment. Loved the ship
Amazing foid so much choice and great quality
Good cruise itinerary, lovely places to visit. Ship was great - plenty of things to go to. Shows in theatre were brilliant . Great choice of places to eat and food was very good. Our whole package was very good as it was our first cruise
We thoroughly enjoyed the whole package apart from a couple of irritable issues. Firstly, the train journey from NIAGARA to New York wasn’t really mentioned in the book literature. Leaving NIAGARA at 10-20 from a rail track level which was horrendous for those with mobility issues. The carriage floor was above head height from the ground and we had to get ourselves and luggage into the carriage. The train guard helped, but it was very difficult to actually get onto the first step. Having set, 5 minutes later we were at the American border, so everyone with all their luggage had to disembark the train and spend the next 2 hours going through USA immigration and customs. The train eventually arrived in New York at 23-30ish, 11. 5 hours after setting off. It’s a 6. 5 hours car journey! Some travellers we met knew about this horror journey and arranged to fly down. It would have been nice to have the option. The Sanctuary Hotel in NY was THE worst IGLU have ever booked us into. The room was very small, dated, and with a glass shower cubicle actually in the bedroom. Thankfully the toilet had its own little room. On the plus side, it was very central to main tourist areas that we wished to see, but come on IGLU, surely you can maintain your usual level of hotel standard. Into the cruise, which we really enjoyed. Sailing out of, and back to NY, obviously it was predominantly American passengers. Our first experience of a cruise out of the USA. Is it just me, but I found that the Americans naturally don’t talk, they shout, and the noise levels became unbearable, and I’m very hard of hearing. As other cruise ships we’ve been on, the “NCL GETAWAY” didn’t have a single quiet area, not even a library or a toned down lounge/bar to relax in. Other than that, the dining was excellent, the crew were first class and the itinerary of land excursions covered whatever you fancied doing. So on reflection, apart from the train journey and the onboard noise factor, at the end of the day we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Enjoyed the trip and the support from Igloo prior to the trip. Things that didn’t go well: We flew with Aer Lingus and visited the hospitality lounge at Dublin airport which was very disappointing with limited choice of food and unhelpful staff. The hospitality on the plane wasn’t much better. Considering we were Business class we’ve had better. The train journey from Niagara Falls to New York caused us some issues having to get our luggage on and off the train and it was a very long day. With hindsight we should have flown. This was our first time with NCL and we were really impressed. Food was excellent especially the speciality dining. It was a lovely ship. The staff and entertainment were great. The itinerary was good too. Overall it was a good holiday. Will cruise with NCL again. Thanks for your support.
