Iglu Cruise customer reviews for Norwegian Epic
First time with NCL , much as I expected, fun, busy, great value, much younger crowd than I expected, families, couples and all walks of life. The service although good not up to celebrity , Azamara or RC standard. Tipping the bar staff now and again worked a treat, service was rapid. The speciality restaurants were fantastic. Entertainment decent but the theatre was small, led to crowding and ridiculous early queuing. Rooms lovely, although servicing was slow at times.
If it wasn’t for the amazing itinerary on this cruise I would have been so disappointed. We had such a good holiday but the ship was just average. There were some good parts and some pretty poor parts to the ship, and service. Cons I feel like the ship was a bit tired. The pool area was dirty and poorly maintained. Inflated prices for drinks, meaning on this itinerary, the VAT added up quickly. $25 for a glass of wine, $35 for a cocktail. The cabin was probably the most disappointing. We paid extra for an aft cabin and it should have been discounted rate, not a premium. The whole room shook - doors banging, roof vibrating and anything on the shelves moving when the ship was at a low speed or manoeuvring. This meant every morning we were woken up very early except on the sea day. The bathroom configuration was very odd as well. This wasn’t a deal breaker but just annoying more than anything. The cabin also wasn’t cleaned in a timely manner. On two occasions the cabin steward didn’t get to our room until after 5pm, at which point we just asked for towels as we were trying to get ready for the evening. It was dusty and not very clean when we went in the cabin on the first day. I took antibacterial wipes and cleaned cabin myself on a few of the days. Oh and they damaged my suitcase at embarkation, so I need to purchase a new one now. Pros The food was nice, I enjoyed the buffet selection and found the food to be cooked well. The speciality dining was a nice change and I sound the food to be good quality even if the choice was minimal. All the staff we encountered were friendly. The magic show was great - my son loved it. Organisation to get on and off the ship was well planned. Overall we had a great holiday, but we will not return to Epic, possibly not even NCL.
Fantastic holiday cruise. First time with Norwegian and have done many other cruise lines. The ship was nice found the bar lounges a little over crowded at times depending on what was showing for entertainment. The speciality restaurants were really lovely and the food fantastic. We celebrated our anniversary on the ship was a nice day. The trips tend to be expensive so you may get better value from external companies offering the same. The room was nice we had a balcony mid ship and just to let you know the bathroom area is separated by a curtain and separate toilet and shower by the front door. Overall a lovely trip and good places to visit. One disappointment was that we had paid all service charges up front and drinks package but as we sailed from barcelona when boarding was informed that we had to still pay tax on our drinks and spending of 10% etc. This tax is new to me and had to paid for all of the days of cruise per person. Makes more cost of the holiday when you think you have it all covered. Great entertainment the staff were excellent.
The price of drinks extortionate . €10 for a small can or bottle of beer . good job we bought drinks package . and €20 for a bus to Marseilles ridiculous
