Iglu Cruise customer reviews for Norwegian Epic
The ship was very good and the crew very attentive and willing to help
I would not rate norwegian epic at all, it was the worst cruise we have ever been on. It started with the bad design of the ship, nothing ran smoothly, the entertainment venues ran into each other all on the same deck, the cabin design was terrible, I could see my husband using the toilet, even though there was opaque glass. The ship itself was too big for us, there was very little entertainment in the theatre, the only acts were a crude comedian and a magician, the other entertainment was solo acts trying to sing in the various venues on deck 7, the food was not very good, it was either burnt or cold and there was very little choice, the only good thing I would like to say is the staff we absolutely fantastic.
This was our 4th cruise on Epic. We love the ship. I am going to start with the positives first. Entertainment great shows we saw them all there was mire music pn board mire chouce. We still love Howl at the moon. The band playing this season were excellent. The beatles shows were excellent. Burn the floor the best dancing ever on a cruise ship. The enterainers certainly give you the value for your money. I loved the game shows on the ship and won Deal or no deal. This paid for an extra trip. Excellent quality of drinks. Different cocktails offered around the ship. Quality of the coffee has definately improved. What needs improving in my view is tge following - Food quality in the garden cafe the food was often cold this needs sorting out. I tried a variety of meals in the garden cafe all were cold. More quality control is needed! The food choice and quality in the garden cafe has definately got worse. This is a real shame. There was less choice and the food was not fresh. I was very disappointed in the garden cafe. Osheehans was also very variable i had sone great food there but also some very poor food. Service - in the garden cafe no bar service was offered. Cabin service - im sorry to say i found our cabin attendent to be indifferent to quality of service. This was a shame as grest cabin service could have turned the other things around. We had issue of poor drainage in the shower resulting in a flood in the cabin. We reported this to the cabin attendant she did not have an answer for this issue. Another cruiser told me in her cabin she had this problem even when she wasnt using the shower. 2 days after this flood the drainage issue disappeared. I am wondering if this issue is somthing to with maintainace on board? Food quality very variable which is a shame. This was a great cruise we were sad not to go to Athens Pireas but understoid tgis was due to a strike at th port. Transfer from the airport was delayed by a crash on the highway this was lost in translation. My husband had to look for the driver who was in the wrong terminal at the airport. Not a great start. Overall we had a great holiday. This is probably our last European cruise as we now plan to go to America next. Epic is sadly past her best. She is a great ship and we do love her but we wont sail on her again.
Largest ship I had been on, although the ship was clean and tidy, it was a bit to noisy for me. All the bars loud music with people speaking even louder to be heard!! Only quiet area was the library. All the complimentary restaurants recycled the same menu’s which were very good, just al the same. Paid restaurants excellent. Café provided a good help yourself selection with many choices. Our room was a balcony room on deck 11, star board good size. Being at the back, there was no lift down to centre of the ship. The theatre entertainment was disappointing with only two real shows eg singing & dancing. Others just one man shows. Entertainment around the ship was cheap game shows with a host. You had to pay in your rooms for films $9. 99 a film. As always the crew was amazing nothing to much trouble.
