Dining
Norwegian Star offers a whole host of complimentary dining, including two main dining rooms plus on-the-go choices, casual cafes and grills.
Menus change daily in the main dining room, Aqua, so you can eat here every night and never be lost for choice. The second main dining room is Versailles and is reminiscent of the famed Palaces of Versailles in Paris. Offering both contemporary and traditional dishes, this main restaurant will always leave you wanting to come back again and again.
Enjoy freshly-prepared noodles, authentic soups and wok-fried dishes at Ginza Asian Restaurant or Irish pub classics at O'Sheehan's. The indoor Garden Cafe offers an immense selection of international and family-friendly options. Alternatively, head to the Topsiders Bar & Grill, a casual spot offering burgers, hot dogs, and the like, as well as al fresco seating if weather permits!
Widen your palate further and choose from one of the speciality restaurants onboard for a surcharge:
- La Cucina - where you can enjoy the flavours of the Tuscan countryside
- Teppanyaki - go oriental and try flying shrimp and onion volcanoes and other authentic Japanese Hibachi cuisine
- Le Bistro - a French Restaurant hosting intimate dining, similar to a Parisian Cafe setting
- Sushi and Sake Bar - for delicious sushi freshly prepared in front of you
- Moderno Churrascaria - a Brazilian steakhouse with great cuts of meat and succulent skewers
- Atrium Cafe & Bar - the perfect spot for some people-watching and more casual cuisine
- Cagney's Steakhouse - an all-American meat joint for great steaks and tasty sides
Entertainment
Onboard Norwegian Star it's showtime all the time. Transporting you to one of the hottest clubs of the 70's, spend your evening in 'Band on the Run', for an exciting mix of soaring melodies and disco sounds to sing along to. Alternatively, tune in to 'Paradis', a visual feast for all of the senses that will give you a glimpse into Parisian culture. This mysterious, urban show is not to be missed. And finally, we have 'What the World Needs Now', another musical production celebrating the songs of Burt Bacharach.
If you’d prefer to simply grab a drink, there are a number of bars to check out. For a sophisticated tipple, you'll love Gatsby's Champagne Bar offering a premium selection of drinks and caviar, or head to Sugar Cane Mojito Bar for some refreshing cocktails. The Sky High Bar is another innovative spot, located outside and serving some tasty, refreshing frozen drinks.
There's also Star Club Casino Bar so if you're feeling lucky, try your hand at Roulette, Blackjack and other slot machines and table games here. For an even livelier evening head to the Bliss Ultra Lounge, which features a full dance floor that will keep your feet moving well into the night.
Family
Kids will jump at the chance to play in Splash Down Kid's pool, which features slides and a hot tub. They'll also find lots of fun at Splash Academy which provides arts and crafts, creative theme days and active games for 3 to 12 year olds, while teens have their own hang out area where no adults are allowed! During the day they can play air hockey and table football while in the evenings the club turns into a disco where they can meet new friends. The Video Zone is sure to keep anyone amused, where you can race cars and fly jets (simulations of course) and is a great place to get the family back together again.

Customer reviews for Norwegian Star
The ncl star was a very comfortable ship which in places could do refurbishing and having more space to sit and enjoy it. The cabins were comfortable and had good sized bathrooms . If anything in the cabins could do with is freshening up a bit. Food good in the main dining rooms and excellent in the speciality restaurants we used . There could be better entertainment on board with a Broadway show on,also the Theatre seats needs to be looked at as very tight squeeze and no drinks holders which on your other ncl ships you have. But all in all the ship was very good and would go on it again in the future, as it's a smaller Capacity ship than some of your others. So my overall rating would be 11 out of 10 .
Just OK. Thought Norwegian was supposed to be above average, but it wasn't anything special. Very little entertainment, although what shows they had were very good. Food was pretty good. Service was generally excellent.
Food was varied, good choice and quality. There were no formal nights on board the ship and although they had a dress code for the main restaurant and speciality dining the dress code was not enforced. An example of this is that you had a man in swimming attire and towels wrapped around him, being served a drink in the mojito bar at 10. 00pm at night, also people wearing baseball caps and shorts in the speciality dining room even though the dress code said no shorts or hats! No good bars on an evening for a quiet drink. The Whiskey bar would have been great but they had Karaoke every night which was not the space for it!! Entertainment from the guest performers was excellent but the 12 strong show cast only did two full stage shows in 16 nights so it felt like we were on their holiday. Itinerary was changed after booking which meant two more sea days which was very disappointing. There was not a lot of varied activities/ entertainment on the sea days to keep things interesting. Not sure at this stage if I would want to do another Norwegian cruise. You couldn’t fault the staff they were always friendly, professional and couldn’t do enough for you.
I travelled on The Norwegian Star to Antarctica 2nd February 2025. Cruise had far too many sea days. Main cafe garden restaurant there was a variety buffet that covered all. Travellers, however food was bland. Plenty of good entertainment. We did not encounter penguins or whales. We were unable to visit the Falklands due to weather conditions and there was a passenger that suffered a medical episode so we had to return to port after 2 hours and this hindered the excursion for the next port visit. Antarctica was the best thing I have ever encountered in my life.
