Customer reviews for Pride of America
The ship was fine. Plenty of choice of good food. Lots of nice bars with great staff. The only issue we had was that although we were in Hawaii, the AC in public areas(bars etc) was so cold we had to wear jackets/coats indoors.
The only real downside was the air conditioning being rather intense......indoor areas in the evening rather chilly.....we actually put some heating on in our cabin before getting changed!! Very warm apart from that.
Pride of America is an older ship (launched 2005) and the cabins are a bit dated. The shower in our balcony cabin was quite small and care was needed not to get the whole bathroom floor wet! The crew were excellent and service very good throughout. A few of the bars and restaurants have not reopened after covid so eating options were limited. East Meets West, Moderna and one of the main dining rooms were all closed on our cruise in November 2022. The cruise itself was good and it was good to see the other main Hawaiian islands. We felt that the excursions were expensive but well run. The port in Maui where the ship overnights is in a container port and there is not much within walking distance. An irritation is that even with the drinks package you have to sign for all drinks. This is due to a local USA tax which is added to every bill and which is not covered by the package. It’s a very small amount so no major issue. Overall we enjoyed the Pride of America and the taste of the Hawaiian islands has certainly made us want to return one day.
Hawaii for us was a once in a lifetime experience. The Pride Of America is one of the older and smaller ships in the NCL fleet but most of our time was spent exploring the islands. The ship was running at under 50% capacity so the ship experience was different from other NCL cruises I have been on as there was less variety of entertainment onboard but overall still a great experience.
