Westerdam Reviews
View Cruise DealsWe really enjoyed the cruise, this is the second cruise have been on with Holland America and will be looking to go again with you. The choice of food and quality was really good. . The ship was nice but it’s ready for a refit but that did not put us off loving her, nice size ship which we like. Plenty of room to find a quiet place if you needed. The cabin was ok ,, a outside cabin with fully restricted view which was disappointing. .
Nice ship service was excellent as was food. Entertainment a bit lacking for our taste. But overall a great cruise
This was our first cruise with Holland America and we very much enjoyed it overall. The food was very good in all the venues and excellent in the Pinnacle and Canaletto speciality restaurants. The staff were very pleasant and eager to assist when needed. Our cabin stewards Reef and Yoan done an excellent job . We did feel however that the entertainment in the World Stage was not as good as some other cruise lines we have sailed with. The dance group were very good at what they done but some of the other performers were rather average.
Ports of call were very good. One unavoidable disappointment due to a passenger becoming a medical emergency, missing the Port of Picton. Organisationally very good. All staff were excellent, great service. Entertainment could have been a bit more varied.
Cabin had totally restricted view rather than partially restricted but is was a good size cabin with a full size window. Ship excellent condition and kept clean and tidy. Crew lovely, helpful & cheerful.
Our Australia to New Zealand cruise was an amazing experience with glorious weather. Milford Sound and the fjords were breathtaking.
Stop overs in Qatar were excellent. The hotel stays in Sydney and Auckland were top class. The transfers and hotels were spot on. No hassle at all. Everything went without any issues. The Westerdam was really good. Cabin fine. Entertainment was fine. Food excellent. The staff and service were excellent too. . . Shore excursions were really good. All in all. The Organisation, Holland America and the cruise itinerary were fantastic
The first thing we noticed was the size and shape of the room, it was large and square and had the most wonderful, spacious bathroom with two basins, the Signature suite was worth it as it also had plenty of balcony space. We loved the itinerary which was the main point of taking this ship although we were sad not to make it into Picton because of the high winds from a tropical storm. Marlborough wine country will have to wait for another day. . However, the thing we really want them to improve is the quality and range of offerings for vegetarians in the main dining room. A true vegetarian is not looking for a 'substitute meant' burger, they want a proper vegetable mean and nothing too bland. They can do it in other places - veggie Jalfrezi in the Lido and the Tamarind menu was great but the main dining room was very boring, repetitive and tasteless for vege people. We have booked another, longer trip but they will need to get batter with their vegetarian offerings.
This was only our second cruise, although we enjoyed our first this was way superior. The ship and its crew were excellent. Comfortable and clean cabins and excellent food. Everything was well organised including shore excursion.
Everything was fantastic
