Debuting in December 2027, Oosterdam is the first ship in Holland America Line’s fleet to undergo extensive refurbishments as part of the Holland America Evolution programme: Holland America Line’s biggest fleet upgrade ever.
An upgrade that will see Oosterdam’s interiors improved and elevated, onboard experiences enriched, and a variety of new staterooms and venues, there’s a lot to look forward to. Great trip, great itinerary. Done 46 cruises on various cruise lines. Best embarkation ever in Trieste. Suite was fab, spotlessly clean. All the staff were so friendly and helpful . Food and service some of the best. Cannot fault this cruise. Only down side was we were on the drinks package but the suite fridge contents had to be paid for which could have easily been included.
Most things about the cruise and hotel stays were very good except the first transfer from Barcelona airport to the hotel. It took at least half an hour to contact the taxi firm as there was nobody to meet us at the airport when we arrived Eventually we contacted someone who told us to go down to where the taxi was but with no further instruction until she appeared another half an hour later and lead us to a car park, the whole experience was extremely stressful and totally unorganized and unprofessional. We ended up waiting about 1 and 1/2 hours before we eventually started our journey to the hotel . All other transfers were ontime and well organised.
Sailed from Athens to Rome and had an amazing time. Yes the ship is in need of a the re-furb it is having this winter, but there is still amazing times to be had. Good food, drinks a plenty and we made new friends along the way. Thoroughly enjoyed the ship and the excursions. Highly recommend.
Our experience with Holland America was positive. Oosterdam is an older ship in need of a refit, but she is clean, comfortable and with a variety of public areas to suit everyone's taste. The good is generally good. The buffet was particularly good for breakfast. The main dining room was dated but the food was good and the service excellent. This is a particularly good value cruise company if you book early and get a Have it All deal. The passengers were mainly from the US and there were several Astronomy groups on-board for the Solar Eclipse. Crew seem happy. The Dutch Captain was personable and visible. Disembarkation was done very smoothly.
