Quite fantastic holiday.
Defining the future of cruising, Oosterdam (pronounced Oh-ster-dam) is the second of the grand Vista-class ships. Oosterdam dazzles guests with everything they desire on a cruise ship such as more staterooms with verandas for private dining, sunning and relaxing, dining choices from fancy dress-up dinners to casual poolside dining and fantastic ways to be pampered in The Greenhouse Spa and Salon, one of the largest and most luxurious spas in the fleet. This spectacular cruise ship delights guests with an unforgettable onboard experience.
With classic dishes, expansive buffet options, comfort food favourites and Italian cuisine, dining onboard Oosterdam will leave you feeling satisfied and ready to explore the exciting destinations.
In addition, for those cruisers who just can’t seem to drag themselves out of bed in the morning, or those who are too tired after a busy day of adventures to leave their cabin, 24-hour room service will bring this delicious cuisine right to your door.
The Holland America Line fleet hosts fantastic evening entertainment, and Oosterdam lives up to this well-established reputation. Whether you choose to enjoy live entertainment or a quiet drink in one of the bars, you won’t be disappointed by what you find onboard.
If live music gets your feet moving, you’re bound to be impressed by the Lincoln Center Stage and B.B. King’s Blues Club, both of which showcase excellent musicians, from classic chamber music performances to the best of Memphis music. For something a little more contemporary, Billboard Onboard treats guests to live musicians and their wonderful renditions of some of the chart-topping hits of the last 50 years. Alternatively, The Mainstage offers a variety of exciting performances throughout the cruise, from dancing and singing to magicians and comedians.
Before the night ends, you’ll have time to checkout the casino, where this might just be the night where you win big (and can finally go on all the cruise holidays you could ask for!).
Fun for all the family is guaranteed onboard Oosterdam, especially thanks to the kids clubs available on every cruise. These include specially-designated spaces for 3-7 year olds, 8-12 year olds and 13-17 year olds. All have age-appropriate activities, meaning even the youngest guests can have fun and make friends during their holiday.
A family holiday is also about making memories together, and where better to do so than in High Score, the family game room on the ship.
Nothing says holiday more than a trip to a spa. On Oosterdam, the Greenhouse Spa & Salon has everything you need to enter new realms of relaxation. Boasting treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, steam room and aromatic room, there are also talented and experienced staff on hand to give you the pampering session of a lifetime.
If a trip to the spa isn’t really your style, there’s also an onboard gym, equipped with everything you could need to keep up with your workouts. There’s even the Lifestyle & Fitness Centre for anyone wanting to learn a little more about health and wellbeing.
As an alternative, and if you prefer your exercise to be more head to head, there’s the chance to challenge others to a game of tennis, basketball or volleyball on the outdoor sports courts.
The excellent facilities on Oosterdam ensure that every guest can find something to keep them occupied during their downtime onboard the ship. If you enjoy a bit of retail therapy, look no further than the duty-free shopping area, where you can pick up a treat (or two!) to take back home with you. There’s also a Culinary Arts Centre for any foodies out there, where expert chefs put on live demonstrations to wow the crowds.
In addition, Holland America Line like to give guests the opportunity to further enrich their cruise thanks to the Explorations speaker series. Experts are invited onboard to talk about their specialist subjects related to each region, delving deeper into the history, culture and cuisine of the destinations. Furthermore, the Explorations Café provides the perfect setting for picking up an interesting book and browsing the internet while you sip on a coffee.

I was on this ship last year and enjoyed it very much. The staff were friendly and the food was good. Too much at times! Would go again

Just cruised on this ship. The staff are exceptionally good, particularly in the restaurant and the people who take care of the cabins. The problem, as far as we were concerned, was the temperature of the dining room and the theatre. It was Cold! Who takes warm clothes on a cruise.? The food was frequently cold. The coffee was inevitably cold. When requested, the staff would bring hot coffee. The portions of steak were generous and very good. The fish was also good but small, which suited small appetites but felt sure some would find it insufficient. The shows were disappointing. The drinks expensive. Cheaper to organise your own sightseeing visits. The embarkation was horrendous. The passengers were mostly friendly.Show more

Overall the ship were very good. The service onboard was very good with the steward and laundry service being exceptional. The excursions are overpriced and passengers would be better off arranging a local tour once they have disembarked. Each port had many options for booking excursions from taxis to vans. We ordered wine packages before the trip and were told that we would be able to use our wine not only in the restaurants but in the bars as well. When we inquired in the bars the waiters said they did not have time to get the wines which we had ordered. The first 48 hours of food service was served by the staff in an effort to thwart any possible infections that may have been brought onboard. The captain's frequent reminders about hand washing, etc. were helpful. The menu in the Pinnacle restaurant became a little tedious after four dinners there. There should be more options.Show more

My husband and I took a cruise on last september and it was the most amazing time we had have in our lives so far. We went to Alaska and Victoria Canada. The ship was incredible: very clean and modern; the staff couldn't be better: very courteous and always around when we needed something. The food was great no matter where: the buffets or the restaurant. We had a cabin with a balcony and the views were breathtaking. We really enjoyed the tours in all the ports. The food was awesome everywhere we went. We usually don't repeat when on vacation, but this cruise would be a repeater.Show more

We had a great trip and loved the Oosterdam. The food was amazing, especially the seafood selection (salmon, shrimp and lobster tails.) of the Main Dining area. The Pinnacle Grill were also our favorite the strip steak, ribeye was truly amazing. The drinks on Oosterdam was better than other cruises we had been, The cocktail were strong and hand mixed. Not to forget about the good selection they have. The entertainment were similar to other ships. The Magician were fantastic, by far one of the best we have seen while at sea. But if you are a non smoker, beware a lot of smoker don't care about the non smoking sign on the ship.Show more
