Norwegian Dawn Reviews
View Cruise DealsA well maintained cruise ship, friendly staff, top knotch entertainment, food great esp speciality restaurants, enjoyable itinerary.
We really enjoyed our cruise on the Norwegian Dawn, although it is a older ship it had everything on board that we wanted. Things we liked: The food either the MDR, buffet or specialist restaurants, was of really good quality. The staff all around the ship were pleasant and helpful. The daytime / evening musicians were good. Plenty of beds / seating around the pool area. Bad points: The lack of shows / entertainment in the main theatre at night.
A brilliant cruise. Great food/entertainment/service
it wasnt explained to me about anything no instructions in the cabin the tanoy was out in the hallway so I didnt hear what was being said. , I had a problem with the connecting door on balcony I spoke to customer service they said they would send someone no one came I went to reception and explained but no one came it was crashing all night so I didnt get any sleep. the taxi didnt turn up on disembarkmnt if it wasnt for a former passenger who was Barcelona women who spoke good english she saw text that was sent and said it was a barcelona number so rang it and spoke spanish to them they said they would send a transport in 10 minutes but it never came she rang again and they said they would send transport in 10 minutes. she was waiting for her daughter to pick her and husband up. she arrived. and the final talk I had with her was I will wait 10 more minutes and I will ring again a yellow cab then turned up.
Like everything in life what pleases one doesnt please another. And sadly that was my experience. Some crew were very good others not so. Food was plentiful in buffet areas more modest in MDRs. Ship geared more for couples and families. And not people with limited walking.
Ship was fine , staff were excellent. Cabin cleaned every day. Port visits every day which was a plus. Food was very good. The only negative was the very expensive bar prices.
Ship looks tired. Our cabin wash-hand basin was cracked in a number of places and always looked dirty!! Chose the cruise for its itinerary and wasn’t disappointed. Enjoyed al ports of call in particular visiting Granada and Seville for the first time. The couple of nights in Barcelona before the start of the cruise and Lisbon at the end of the cruise we really enjoyed. The hotels chosen were excellent which made the holiday.
We booked the holiday more for where the ship was sailing. The ship itself is old / cabins very small and tired I couldn’t believe how small the bathroom was, however we had no sea days you were sightseeing every day which we thoroughly enjoyed. Food on the ship we have had better on other cruises even Norwegian. One night we ordered starters and mains the starters arrived and a minute later so did our main meal we pointed out that we hadn’t finished and the main meal would be cold they took it away and brought it back later it was obvious they had just warmed it up everything was dry. . The staff were friendly. The app that they encourage you to use only works on the ship if you have purchased their WFI package not something you really need when you are on land every day,We did enjoy the holiday especially the sightseeing different places everyday and I do appreciate that they need to use a smaller ships to visit some of the ports.
Unfortunately the ship had to miss a destination because it thought the sea was a slight bit choppy. There was only a couple ports of call that we could stay ashore a reasonable amount of time. The ship was fine generally but my gripe was the price of a drink if you did not have a all inclusive drinks package which seemed to be all or nothing as if you only wanted the odd beer occasionally the wanted the equivalent of over £18 a pint. Talk about a rip off and suffice to say I had no drinks onboard!
The Venetian Restaurant is beautiful but the service at times was really bad.
