Thomas Cook Guide 2020

We are all saddened to learn of the failure of Thomas Cook. We know that our customers will have a number of concerns about their holiday in instances where a service (such as a flight) was to be provided by Thomas Cook.

We also understand that now, more than ever, customers will be seeking reassurance that they are protected against travel company failure.

Thomas Cook Information

What happens if I have a flight booked with Thomas Cook?

If you are a customer of ours and as a part of your holiday you were to be flying with Thomas Cook, you will be contacted with new flight details in due course.

Where we are acting as your tour operator, we are working to get new flights booked as a priority. We will be working to rebook flights in the order that customers are due to travel, therefore if you do not hear from us immediately, please do not worry.

In many instances, your holiday will be organised by the tour operator detailed on your confirmation document. The tour operator will let us know when they have new flight details for you and we will pass on this information. Again, it may be necessary to pass this information on in order of date of travel.

The process for finding new aircraft and seats to fulfil bookings may take a number of weeks.

We reiterate that we will be contacting all customers that have flights booked with Thomas Cook as part of their package, though if you are travelling within the next 14 days on a Thomas Cook flight and you need to speak with us we have a dedicated number: 020 3848 3730

How do I know whether I have a flight with Thomas Cook?

Thomas Cook flights are prefixed by either “MT” or “TCX”. This should be detailed on your confirmation paperwork.

Flights operated by airlines other than Thomas Cook are not affected.

How am I protected against a travel company failing?

The good news is that we’re able to assure all of our customers that have booked a package holiday through us are fully financially protected in the case of our or our supplier’s failure.

All cruise holidays, for example, are packages; as are any holidays that include travel (such as flights or rail services) and accommodation.

In the case of packages that include flights, you will be protected under the ATOL scheme. You will receive a certificate immediately on booking detailing that monies paid are fully protected in the case that the ATOL holder fails prior to your holiday, or you will be repatriated at no cost to you at the end of your holiday should the failure occur whilst you are away.

If your package does not include flights, you won’t receive an ATOL certificate, though you will still be protected against a travel providers failure. If that travel provider is a member of ABTA, it will often be via a bond held by them.

If we are acting as a travel agent, any monies paid to us will be honoured by the tour operator in the case of our failure, and you will still be able to proceed on your holiday.

Our business’s ATOL number is 2987, our ABTA number is J0332.
