Iglu Cruise customer reviews for Marella Discovery 2
Based on a previous,Marella cruise, it appears on this ship the accommodation area has shrunk, including the balcony area. A description from the advertisement from which I chose, a luxury room with balcony, was far from it. Couldn't falt the food offered, which was the only good thing about it.
This was a transitioning cruise from Malaga to Barbados. The ship was great, the crew very helpful at all times, the weather was good (after Gibralter) - the only thing that spoiled it was some of the other people on board. Why some people have to shout to others and use the f-word at least once in every sentence is a puzzle. Why they are allowed to get away with it is a mystery. One lady I spoke to had taken to wearing headphones whenever she was on the top deck so she didn't have to hear it. But I do understand that 4 people did have their cruise ended earlier than they had booked for. . . . . The food seemed to have improved since our last cruise with Marella and it was nice to be able to just walk into any of the included restaurants and immediately be seated without having to plan ahead and book in advance. Maybe the folk who cannot speak without using the f-word were all piling up their plates in the buffet? However, I do have an intolerance (which I always declared) and one night I ordered the green Thai curry which had the relevant food in it but was unlisted. My waiter acknowledged as he took the order that I was intolerant to the food, but when it arrived - there it was! Lucky it was in lumps and I spotted it before I ate any. It was quickly replaced with something else when I pointed it out, but had it been in powder form I might not have noticed; eaten it; and had a very uncomfortable 24 hours afterwards. This element of care needs to be improved. A person with an allergy could have been at serious risk of harm.
On the whole very pleased with Cruise. The only issue was insufficient Sunbeds on Decks. Staff were great so was Food.
Everything was good the only niggle was that they way the cabins have been refurbished, as far as wardrobe space and dressing table allocation was not well thought out and also the cabin creaking at night even when it wasn't rough sailing. Also the entertainment wasn't as good as in the past though the drag artist and Tom Jones impersonater were excellent
