Pleasantly surprised not sailed with Marella before, usually sail with Celebrity, Royal Caribbean or NCL. Found Marella comparable, just the same issue as with the others - cold food. Cruise lines just can't seem to get it right. Nice ship, referbed balcony cabin, speciality restaurants very good. Ship had technical issues so not able to visit some planned ports but were substituted for alternatives. Would use Marella again.

Oh dear Marella - very disappointed. Having cruised on several other shipping lines Marella was by far the worst. For a Christmas cruise the atmosphere was non-existent save a passenger choir who performed two songs on Christmas day. The acts were at best working men's club standard with the exception of the drag act who was very good, even the saxophonist admitted to us that he was still learning to play and oh! boy it showed. The food - especially in the buffet restaurant was just about passable, with a limited choice ( good job there was a reasonable salad bar) The main restaurant didn't fair much better though the waiting staff ( we managed to get the same ones each evening ) were friendly and reasonably efficient. My heart sank when I witnessed wine being recanted into glasses from a plastic 30 litres container!!! , yes I didn't upgrade my drinks package but come on!!!! The ship is rather tired and basic. On the plus
side transfers, embarcation and debarcation was excellent - very well organised. You certainly get what you pay for. If you're looking for cheap and cheerful, that's what you get.
Saving grace - lovely to be in the sunshine at Christmas.
* Please note - Itineraries calling into Venice and Dubrovnik will incur a small tourist tax per person, this will be added to your onboard account during the cruise.
