Oosterdam Reviews
View Cruise DealsMy hip needs replaced and we debated about cancelling our cruise, we are both glad we didn’t . We hired a wheelchair on board with our on board spend and I was able to get off at the ports. I was helped on to tender boats pushed up and down gangways helped by locals when we got stuck, we met so many lovely people. In the Falklands I nearly got blown over but was rescued by the jeep driver who took me to the tearoom. Our steward gave us a wedge to keep the cabin door open but was usually there to help stow the chair away for the night. Every morning when we went to the Lido for breakfast I got a good morning Moira as they moved chairs to accommodate my wheelchair. We did not do our usual 5ks round the deck in the morning but were able to enjoy our trip thank you all.
Amazing 22day Chile/Antarctica/Falklands/Uruquay/Argentina experience on the Oosterdam. Antarctica was simply breathtaking and the Ship's Master did everything possible to maximise every aspect of the 4 days amongst the ice. Ship's crew were exceptional in every sense and the vessel itself perfect. Slightly older ship, not overly glitzy, just perfect. Our first cruise with Holland America, we are now completely converted and looking towards the next one with them, already seriously considering repeating the Antarctica cruise !
Professional, friendly crew; Lots to do on board , Great Antarctic cruise with a good mixture of shore visits and sea days.
Excellent cruise that exceeded our expectations. The weather was amazing. Interesting ports of call. Started with 3 nights in Buenos Aires and ended with 2 nights in Santiago.
100% Fabulous, from the moment we landed at Buenos Aries airport we had a sensory overloud, in a good way. The weather was extremely kind to us throughout the 22 night cruise and our time pre cruise in Buenos Aries. We just loved it. You can do as much or as little as you like onboard and before. One of my highlights was waking up and looking out the balcony window to see icebergs and also orca swimming by. Oh and lots and lots of penguins :-)
It was an amazing experience seeing all the wildlife in it's natural habitat. The crew were very helpful and friendly. We had so much fun visiting all the ports of calls but the Antarctic Experience was especially memorable for us.
First time on a 'large' cruise ship and my expectations were quite low. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was organised extremely well. Facilities were excellent and crew were amazing.
Weather in Antartica was very good. Cold but clear on 3 of 4 days.
A lovely ship, not too big. The staff were wonderful. We had very good weather for the time of the year and the ports visited were very interesting The cabins on the ship would benefit from having walk in showers instead of baths.
We had a lovely holiday, made possible by your exception staff. The food was amazing and so much choice. We enjoyed some of the shows, particularly Tom Milner. We also enjoyed the comedian and the singer at the end of the cruise Lindsey Hamilton. The band in Rolling Stones were brilliant and so was the band that played in the Ocean bar that also backed Tom Milner. A big thank you to Villie, Jenny and Andrew in the Rolling Stones lounge who went out of their way to make our holiday feel special. Our only negatives are the fact that your app does not keep track of how many drinks you have used from your allowance and this caused a few issues of incorrect charges but by far the biggest issue was the noise from the lifts. We were 4 cabins down from the aft lifts and every time one arrived, it made a loud binging noise. We feel that the loud bell was unnecessary and spoilt what would have been a perfect holiday. I did speak to guest services but nothing could be done. Embarkation and disembarkation was very good but the lack of information from Holland America about the Greek strike caused unnecessary worry.
