New Cruise Ships 2020

For lovers of cruise, the news of a new cruise ship brings excitement and dreams about holidays to come. When we first get wind of such news, of course we keep our eyes and ears to the ground in order to find out as much as possible about what’s instore. With several cruise ships on the horizon, and even more to come in the next few years, get ready to experience some of the most innovative and exciting vessels at sea.

New Cruise Ships: Adult Only

Scarlet Lady

Launch Date: Winter 2020

New to the cruise game, the highly-anticipated Virgin Voyages will be debuting their first ship – Scarlet Lady – in winter of 2020. She is sure to rock the boat – forgive the pun – as she brings some thrilling industry firsts to the table. Think outdoor boxing studios, drag acts, and an outdoor boxing ring! Scarlet Lady will be an adults-only ship, offering a style of cruise holiday that hasn’t been seen before.

Spirit of Adventure

Launch Date: Winter 2020

Unlike Iona, Saga Ocean Cruises’ new cruise ship will be designed for a much smaller number of guests – just 1,000. This more modest size will create an intimate atmosphere onboard which is especially ideal for solo travellers, and in fact there will be an impressive 100 cabins specifically designed for singles. It is thought that Spirit of Adventure will share many of the same features as sister ship, Spirit of Discovery, including the brilliant Nepalese restaurant, Khukuri.

New Cruise Ships: Luxury

Celebrity Apex

Launch Date: Spring 2020

After the seeing the splendour and success of Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Cruises have been working on the delivery of a second sister ship: Celebrity Apex. She will feature the same stunning venues and amenities, including the beautiful ‘Magic Carpet’. This is a moveable deck that protrudes from the side of the ship boasting a bar, restaurant, and extended embarkation space. There are also martini glass-style hot tubs and a roof top garden to look forward to.

New Cruise Ships: Family Friendly

P&O Iona

Launch Date: 2021

Cruisers up and down the country have been talking about the arrival of P&O Cruises' Iona for what seems like years. The largest ship built specifically for the UK market, the stunning new cruise ship boasts a one-of-a-kind venue known as the SkyDome, which will offer space for relaxation and fun in the day, and fantastic entertainment in the evening. There will also be no less than 17 places to eat onboard.

Enchanted Princess

Launch Date: 2020

Set to join Princess Cruises’ Royal Class ships, Enchanted Princess will boast a number of classic features such as the popular SeaWalk – a glass-bottomed walkway offering wonderful views of the sea below – and the Princess Live TV Studio. The fabulous Movies Under the Stars will also be onboard, as well the spacious atrium and adults-only Sanctuary.

Mardi Gras

Launch Date: 2021

Able to cater for up to 5,200 guests, Mardi Gras will be the largest ship in the Carnival Cruise Line fleet. To help passengers navigate the new cruise ship, the public areas have been divided into six different zones; Grand Central, La Piazza, The French Quarter, Summer Landing Zone, The Lido, and The Ultimate Playground. Each of these is sure to offer a unique atmosphere and plenty of things to see, do, and eat!

MSC Virtuosa

Launch Date: 2020

It’s the fabulous MSC Cruises that will introduce the largest new cruise ship in 2020 – MSC Virtuosa is set to accommodate up to almost 6,300 guests. Attractions onboard will include an outdoor waterpark, indoor amusement centre, and regular Cirque du Soleil performances. Using the MSC for Me App and wristband technology, guests can also enjoy convenient services like ordering drinks and making reservations without leaving the comfort of their sun lounger.

Odyssey of the Seas

Launch Date: April 2021

The first Quantum-Ultra Class ship was Spectrum of the Seas, and Odyssey of the Seas will be her sister ship. It is thought that she will be similar in style and size, with exciting activities like Royal Caribbean’s well-loved surf simulator. The fantastic North Star (elevated pod with panoramic views), bumper cars, and a sky-diving simulator will also be onboard.
