Marella Explorer Reviews
View Cruise DealsFantastic cruise with friends 16 th Marella cruise and can’t fault them it was good as ever. Cabin was balcony on deck 9. Always kept spotless by housekeeping team. Entertainment was great and included a Gary Barlow tribute act and a comedian from the uk. All staff are fantastic and always smiling. Food choice was amazing and always found something in either buffet or one of the restaurants where you get served at your table. The drinks suited us and entertainment staff were none stop. We particularly enjoyed the silent disco ! Toilets were always clean and tidy and always got a sun lounger. Will defo be going again with Marella. Ports visited were amazing!!!
A very disappointing experience. It was a good itinerary, but with some shore excursions below par. Onboard dining was mediocre, with little menu variation and poor fruit and salad selections. Lack of opportunity for dining room table-sharing with other passengers. No onboard presentations or guest speakers. Lack of TV news channels for more than half of the cruise. Paid for WiFi did not perform well. Cabin service and maintenance were good, and evening theatre shows were entertaining.
Very quick easy check in. Cabin lovely and clean, Staff could not do enough for you very attentive and smiley. Meals very good although late night snacks let things down. Drinks was plentiful and adequate without upgrading. Excursions was available although more expensive through the ship which is always going to be more. . entertainment was very very weak especially the bands in the bars and on the pool deck. The virtual bands should be on stage not screen. The showteam was no more than a school production but did change the 2nd week which was better but we have seen much better west end style on past marella cruises. There was a couple of really good vocalists who held the rest of the showteam up. The guest entertainment was good Brian Conelly Jnr. The comedian we had seen before excellent impressionist but jokes years old. . . the professional dancers was amazing. The guy on the piano Jo in Indigo was also amazing. A good singer too he made that piano sing very very good. The assistant cruise director Jillian out shone the cruise director--a nice girl but something lacking. The restaurant team was amazing. . all in all a good cruise but we have had much better entertainment. . the hosts was very xyz. Did what they needed to and did not interact as in the past you could see it was just a job to most of them. . However we shall be booking again still with Marella as we like the formal down to earth vibes from other cruisers not too posh shall we sat.
We were pleasantly surprised at the high standards in all areas on Marella Explorer. From the large, spotlessly clean cabins to the excellent variety of food in a wonderful choice of restaurants, the cruise exceeded our expectations. .
Fabulous staff Lots of things to do Excellent food &drinks Amazing memories made
We had a fabulous cruise, we missed the comedian as show room was full, which was a shame. We did see Cece who was brilliant! Food was overall good, other than the evening meal in Tapas/Mediterranean. All staff were fabulous, best New Year, we will be back. Death in paradise trip was great. St Lucia, overwhelming with approaches for trips as you get off, so prepare what you want to do beforehand. Some great experiences. 🥳🚢❤️🌞🍹
Very happy with the Marella explorer cruise. The guys who were looking after our room were amazing!! Dining was good except for the vegetables. All the cooked vegetables were over cooked, hence the 4 stars. Salads were however good. Not much variety on the buffet. Like food from different countries. However? Whatever was available was tasty. I liked the self service taps of wine and lager at the buffet area. That was excellent!
Ship needs a refurb, room was old and dated, stains on bed settee, carpet and curtains. Balcony furniture old and balcony in disrepair. Quality of food was less that expected especially in the restaurants you paid extra for. Some of the trips were rushed, one trip by coach round the island was 3 hrs with three stops but because of the traffic the three stops added up to 50 mins and we just made it back to the ship. Staff were excellent as usual. Would not recommend Marella now.
Explorer looking her age. My cabin was adequate. The food, drink and staff were great. It was lovely to wake up to a different island every day. Entertainment on the ship was very average. If you like being six inches apart on sun beds around the pool then fine,if you get up about eight no chance of a sun beds. The excursions (TUI) were fine . Sometimes it reminded me of Butlins .
Nice ship, very friendly staff. Good public areas, immaculately clean. Cabin - nice layout, nice balcony (washed once a week). Bathroom tired and in need of modernisation, although shower was reasonable size and lots of hot water. Food in Latitude 53 and Vista was very good. Food in self-service restaurant was good with lots of variety. The food in Piccadilly's was confused - hot and cold food on the same plate, portion size too big or too small, not enough vegetables. Staff in all restaurants were well trained and friendly. Entertainment was generally good, special acts over Xmas and New Year were very good. Would have liked one 'old fashioned, full costume show each week. Ship layout was frustrating - couldn't go from front to back without going up or downstairs to avoid blockage on some decks. Trips were generally good, but expensive. Internet was very expensive. Cabin service was excellent. Embarkation and getting on and off at ports was efficient and thorough. Crews News was repetitive and not very inspiring. 'Navigate App' was useful. Activities/entertainment on 'sea-days' was good and varied.
