Explorer of the Seas Reviews
View Cruise DealsFantastic cruise, staff were so lovely and helpful to ensure we had a brilliant holiday. There was a great variety of bars and restaurants, along with entertainment
Thank you Iglu for organizing the pre and post cruise stays. Everything excellent and the Royal Caribbean Cruise amazing.
The food was generally good both in the dining room and windjammer. Unfortunately ports are quite away from places we wanted to visit although Rome was well worth the trip. We found using taxis in Nice was a lot cheaper than the shops excursion. We liked the shows in the promenade. Staff are very friendly and helpful
Love Royal Caribbean! Food was good as was the service. Itinerary great too. Entertainment very good.
Lovely ship, lovely staff felt drinks etc a bit expensive. Trips very well organised
First cruise and would definitely be booking another one. The staff, entertainment, food and service were all excellent. We had a cabin with a sea view and thought we would have benefitted if we had a balcony. I would say that not having a balcony was fine. There's so much to do that you don't spend much time in the cabin. The attention to detail is phenomenal.
We could not fault the amazing staff onboard Explorer of the Sea. The two who particularly shone were our main dining waiters Ikadek and Awa who both have that magical blend of professional attentiveness mixed with warmth, friendliness and humour. The ship was clean and the public areas well maintained although Windjammer could do with some very tatty chairs being replaced. The three main dining areas were situated across three decks and linked by a central open area that made it feel open, airy and spacious. We had an accessible cabin which was spacious and clean. The bathroom had a seat in the showers roll under sink and grab rails by the loo and in the lip-free shower. Surprisingly, there was no emergency pull cord in the bathroom. Instead there was a telephone on the wall which I doubt would be of any use because if you fell you wouldn’t be able to reach it. Unfortunately, our cabin and our son’s cabin were both rather dated and in need of a refit. This is in no way a criticism of the cleaning staff who were clearly doing their best but things were simply old and well worn. Food in main dining and the buffet (Windjammer) was consistently good. The use of plastic plates and glasses in Windjammer was a bit ‘school dinners’ and, as well as not looking and feeling great, it meant food got cold very quickly. Overall, we enjoyed our experience but we weren’t surprised to hear from staff that the ship was going into dry dock after our holiday; hopefully, the cabins, balconies and Windjammer will be getting a refit.
Overall we enjoyed our cruise on Explorer of the Seas. The ship is very clean and the service of the staff was excellent. The public areas of the ship are impressive and there are lots of things to do. Having a outside balcony in our opinion was a must have, as we could escape for some quiet relaxtion. We did find some areas of the ship and cabins to be tired and in need of some TLC, but were clean and didn't massively impact our enjoyment. The cost of drinks and Internet on the ship is excessive and massively increased the cost of our holiday. On the whole we enjoyed our cruise but we were glad we didn't have a tight budget.
Me and my husband really enjoyed our Greek cruise with Explorer of the Seas. As an older ship it is looking a little tired and doesn't have all the bell and whistles of the newer ships, but the crew were incredibly hardworking and friendly, and we had everything we needed. We enjoyed all the ports of calls, and the couple of shore excursions we booked. We were a bit disappointed with the entertainment in the main theatre each evening, the Rock & Roll Headliner band were definitely the best whilst the rest was very average. The ice show was really good though. We joined in with some of the game shows and quizzes too, and for the most part really enjoyed them, although some of the entertainment team were better than others at hosting the game shows. We did have a great time though.
Great ship - entertainment staff standard of food and drink excellent. The stateroom was fine. Dark at night for sleeping, comfy large bed and not too noisy from midnight. Itinerary was good - two days at sea to chill. Plenty to do if you want to get involved.
