Named after Australian explorer, and co-founder of Aurora Expeditions
, Greg Mortimer offers expedition cruisers a wealth of fantastic facilities and amenities.
With a true focus on discovering remote destinations and exploring the wild, the vessel has been designed to enhance the passenger experience in every way possible. From the hydraulic, folding viewing platforms, to the team of onboard experts, every day onboard Greg Mortimer will offer a new and exciting opportunity.
She has been built with state-of-the-art technology, with features introduced to minimise environmental impact, as well as give cruisers a comfortable and easy journey. One such feature is the patented X-Bow, which has never before been used on an expedition cruise ship. Designed by Norwegian ship-building company Ulstein, the X-Bow is used on more than 100 vessels in the shipping industry. It's basically an inverted bow which allows the ship to push on beneath waves, making for a fast and smooth sail.
The Greg Mortimer also boasts a virtual anchorage system, which enables the vessel to stop still in the water without dropping anchor and disturbing the sea floor. She is able to deal with a range of weather conditions, and remain sturdy while passengers embark and disembark in a wide variety of environments.
Dining onboard Greg Mortimer is relaxed and comfortable. Passengers are treated to a wide variety of flavoursome dishes, which are served in a neutral and social setting. Sit with fellow passengers to discuss your experiences and sightings every day. Soft drinks, house wine, and beer are included at meal times.
Complimentary 24 hour tea, coffee, and snacks are also available throughout the cruise.
In keeping with a commitment to destination immersion, onboard entertainment comes in the form of informative presentations and lectures.
The theme could be local biology, specific wildlife, climate change, or the history and culture of a particular region. All lecturers are renowned experts in their fields, and are well-equipped to explain and answer any questions guests might have.
The Wellness Centre onboard Greg Mortimer offers a variety of gym equipment for those seeking to keep up with their fitness while onboard, however the active excursions available will often take care of this!
To rest and rejuvenate after a rewarding day of exploring, spend some time in the sauna or Jacuzzi, or even treat yourself to a massage.
In addition to attending talks onboard, there are plenty of opportunities to take in the incredible surroundings of the ship from several vantage points. Enjoy a panoramic view from the 360° observation deck, claim your spot at one of the designated viewing areas, or make use of the hydraulic viewing platforms when they are available.
