Oceania Nautica Reviews
View Cruise DealsOceania surpassed our expectations in terms of the sheer suitability and enjoyment of being on a small ship. So many assets to mention, including: the superb personable service, the quality of the food, the very relaxed atmosphere on board, the lack of congestion in dining rooms, external and internal public areas. Additionally, the range of benefits included in the price was of great appeal including open access to speciality dining. The itinerary, while busy, was full of interest and the whole experience was exceptionally worthwhile. We would not hesitate to return to this cruiseline.
For a 'foodie' cruise the speciality restaurants were average, no better than other cruise lines. The main restaurant again nothing spectacular. The terrace was above average copmpared to other lines. Day one had an issue with noisy aircon and the cabin was warm on the lowest setting. Reported and engineer arrived to insert green foam around the unit and adjust the temperature. Ours was the only suite that appeared to have the issue, other cruisers on deck 8 were fine, you could hear out unit when approaching the cabin. Despite reporting several times it was not resolved. A chance meeting with the captain who asked how the cruise was, I mentioned the aircon, he replied are you cabin 8057, yes I said, he said I've just been there it's fine at 20C. This was recorded via a probe to the centre of the unit I had seen the engineer do this not saatisfactory.
First time cruiser and have to say the Nautica left nothing to chance they thought of everything, getting from airport to the ship was so simple, all the days off board were expertly organised by the staff and when we left again after our holiday, disembarkation was simple. The staff on this ship were outstanding from Alexis our steward to the bar and restaurant staff they cannot do enough for you. Everwhere is clean , everything works , the entertainment was to a good standard in the evening. Our cabin was smallish but perfectly comfortable, everything you can possibly need is on this ship, I would have no hesitation going on the Nautica again
A great ship, and the ideal size. While the food is generally very good their claim of the "finest cuisine at sea" is slightly questionable. The crew are friendly and helpful. Having the drinks package is well worthwhile for even moderate drinkers. The tender process worked well when required. Downsides - The band in the main lounge are far too loud and actually not that good. Service in the cocktail bar was patchy, more staff staff needed there in the evenings. Being a smallish ship the pool was small and usually crowded. Excursions were very expensive There was no highlighting of a change of port.
Nice, traditional small ship. Just 600 plus guests. Always plenty of space without any queuing. Cabin size about the same as other lines, but well eqipped and comfortable. Food is excellent. Not the level of entertainment you get on the large ships, but perfectly adequate. Excursions not so impressive, but no worse than other lines.
food ok ship nice but small showers are rediculous, crew excellent
Food and staff fabulous . Taxi company at airport , dreadful and unprofessional . Hotel fab . Ship lovely , would be nice to be able to talk to fella guests without loud music in the Martini bar . Overall an enjoyable cruise .
Ports of call good / could not tender at Troy due to sea swell ?? have tendered in conditions twice as rough no problem , perhaps due the the agility of the majority of the passengers! the air conditioning in our cabin was overbearing and difficult to control, leaving us with extremely dry throats , the food was not as good as The Best Cuisine At Sea advertised but was o. k. Plenty of nice things about Nautica , cabin staff were excellent as were the majority of the staff . Will look at Oceania again on a larger ship
We really enjoyed this cruise. The itinerary was excellent and made extra special because the weather was so good. Positives Clean and good standard of fittings Smooth transfer and boarding Friendly staff Good drinks availability although if not on the package we were it would have been expensive. Good choice of food available for normal dietary requirements Negatives Some staff weren’t as efficient, maybe new to the ship. We had some time waiting for food in Grand Dining and on one occasion orders mixed up which was worrying considering one of the meals was gluten free. Disappointed with Toscana restaurant as lobster not the best and sauce poor quality. Having said that my husband had Fillet Mignon which he said was great. Gluten free options were not labelled in the Terrace restaurant and we had to ask about everything the servers didn’t always know and had to get the chef which sometimes took several minutes. They were good at offering alternatives but it would have been smother if foods labelled. Gluten Free desert choice was poor often only fruit or soufflé of the day. I thought it was strange that deserts weren’t included on the pre order menu which was completed each morning ready for the evening meal. We didn’t feel overall that, compared to other cruises we have been on, the food was “best at sea” as described.
A Big Disappointment
