Cabins were looking dated and tired, with chipped paintwork and varnish work. The en-suite toilet failed to flush on numerous occasions and flooded the bathroom on one occasion. Shore excursions were hugely overpriced, and the constant upselling on board was tiresome. The NCL app was useless. The library was open for only a few hours per day. Food in the main restaurants and specialty restaurants was good, but the buffet was disappointing. The cruise was very much geared towards the US market (food, tv channels, library books). On the plus side, the crew on the whole were excellent, helpful and unfailingly cheerful, but the Captain and bridge crew were not visible.
The ship is in need of a refit, especially the plumbing systems. We have cruised with several other cruise lines and NCL compares badly.
Norwegian Star is the worst ship we have been on, and it is very unlikely we will be cruising with NCL again.

Norwegian Star cruise to Iceland and Norway was disappointing; the excursions were expensive and the onboard experience was fairly ordinary especially the food; undercooked roasts, salty soups, very sweet puddings prepared by Filipino chefs but not to western standards.
The evening shows were often disappointing too. Some ordinary performers.
Wouldn’t recommend.

Staff lovely, cabin very clean & pleasant, lovely big bed.
Entertainment very mixed, conjured, & violinist excellent but a lot of shows not so good.
Everything seemed to have extra cost, 20% on drinks etc, we don’t drink enough to warrant a package. Automatic service charge of 20 dollars per person per day excessive.
Made our own trip arrangements as they were more expensive on board.
