    A forest-covered island around 12km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Ilha Grande is the perfect destination for the explorers among you. It’s home to several well-maintained and well-signposted walking trails which will afford you the opportunity to admire the island’s incredible wildlife – of which, you’ll find everything from parrots and hummingbirds to monkeys – and stunning scenery. With roughly 63% of the island covered by the Ilha Grande State Park, and numerous smaller reserves in place protecting the flora, fauna, and traditional communities that reside here, 87% of the island has a protected status. While you won’t find too many attractions here, this is a great place to get in touch with nature and explore a unique environment that – in part, at least – is endangered.

Car parking

Car parking at the port or airport is not included in the cost of your cruise, and this cannot currently be booked through Iglu Cruise. However, please contact us after you have made your booking if you would like to add this to your package, so we can discuss options. An approximate cost for parking during a cruise is around £12 to £20 per car per day. Alternatively, transfers can be arranged.

Overpriced excursions. While no one can help the poor weather. This was offset by the ship. While it is getting ready for a refurbishment, I really enjoyed the time on the ship. Plenty of areas for sitting down with a drink and it was easy to get a drink. Liked the layout of the smaller ship with classic cabaret lounge style entertainment areas as well as the excellent theatre. Food in the dining room was excellent with good service from the staff and wine waiters. The buffet for breakfast was a battle between 0830 and 0930 due to the number of people trying to get in at that time. Didn't help that tables were set for 8 people and not many wanted to share. Could suggest more tables for couples or for no more than 4 people. But the food quality and content was very good, with tables soon cleared by the staff. After 17 cruises on MSC, this ship was good with a very attentive crew and the cabin steward was of the old school,where you went to the loo and your bed was made. Quick and efficient. Overall good trip

Food was just above average in the restaurant with staff being very good. Buffet was always too busy, queues for seating on some days and staff were not particularly helpful. Bars were nice, service sometimes slow but staff were friendly. Entertainment was good. The speciality sushi restaurant was very good.

There was a great atmosphere on board . All the crew were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our balcony cabin was beautiful and clean. The destinations were all lovely. We chose the excursions around beautiful Menorca and Sardinia which were well organised with plenty of information . The dining options and entertainment options meant that there was something for everyone and the theatre musical shows were brilliant. A great holiday and will use MSC again.
