Overall well organised budget cruise.
The ship felt very empty because there were some large groups of Eastern Europeans who generally didn't mix with the westerners. Consequently some of the venues were deserted. Prom deck was always empty.
We ate in the Smoked Olive and had excellent service from our waiters Jeffrey, Jerwyn and Yayang (wine). The maitre d' was usually around too. Buffet food was not as appealing but the chilli con carne was good and there was a good salad bar. The desserts looked interesting but we stuck with the fresh fruit due to dietary issues.
Entertainment was low key to appeal to all on board and the dancers and singers were very good. The classical violinist was also good but perhaps not appreciated. Other bar entertainers were a little too loud for the spaces.
Cabin was good but the cable for the hairdryer was weirdly short especially as it was secured in a drawer.

The largest and oldest public museum in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Bahrain National Museum is home to a wide variety of ancient archaeological artefacts, exhibitions on the natural environment of Bahrain, and an entire hall devoted to the Dilmum civilization. It’s also believed to be the first modern museum in this region of the Middle East, despite only being complete in 1988. With displays exploring roughly 5,000 years of Bahraini history, there’s a lot to learn from a visit here.
Al Fateh Grand Mosque
One of the largest mosques in the world when it was constructed in 1987, the Al Fateh Grand Mosque features the world’s largest fiberglass dome, Italian marble flooring, and an immaculate Austrian-made chandelier. It can accommodate over 7,000 worshippers at once and is also home to the National Library of Bahrain – where over 7,000 books are kept. A breathtaking example of Islamic architecture, with its sheer scale impressive enough on its own, a visit to the Al Fateh Grand Mosque won’t disappoint.
Qal’at al-Bahrain
Also known as the Portuguese Fort, Qal’at al-Bahrain is an ancient archeological site that was founded in some form circa 2,300 BC before eventually being abandoned in its current state in the 16th century. A short drive from central Manama, this fortification is built on the largest tell – which is an artificial mound created by the debris of a succession of previous settlements – in the Persian Gulf, something that signifies this location’s importance throughout history. There’s no specific information on when the Portuguese fortifications we see today in Qal’at al-Bahrain were built, but the island nation was ruled by the Portuguese Empire from 1521 to 1602 – so, that gives us a rough idea of how old this impressive structure is.
