From colourful Nyhavn to the charm of Tivoli Gardens, Denmark’s capital is a fairytale come to life.

Situated on the shores of the Göta älv river on Sweden's west coast is the country's largest city, Gothenburg. A significant seaport, it is renowned for its Dutch-inspired canals and green boulevards like the Avenyn, which is the city's main avenue which is surrounded by an array of popular cafés and shops.

Since the 19th century, Skagen has lured visitors from all around the world for its breathtaking landscapes and beautiful beaches. Nowadays, travellers visit for all this as well as the unique neighbourhoods, array of museums and fantastic shopping. Skagen's artistic flair makes for great photo opportunities, but if you're looking for more active excursions, enjoy a guided hike, a full-day horse ride or water sports at the beach.

Where Vikings and kings once used to rule, Haugesund is now home to rugged landscapes, cultural celebrations, extreme sports and fantastic shopping in the city centre. For a taste of traditional Norse history, visit the Nordvegen History Centre where kids can dress up as Vikings. For active outdoorsmen, a guided hike to Langfoss waterfall is an unforgettable experience, though the steep cliffs are not for the faint of heart! Finally, take a walk around the city for dining, shopping and fun festivals.

In Norway's Vestland county, Eidfjord serves as the municipality's administrative hub. The village is located on the shores of the picturesque Eid Fjord, a smaller branch of the vast Hardangerfjorden. Beautiful scenery, a warm and welcoming feel and a selection of fascinating attractions can be found here.

The Faroe Islands' capital, Tórshavn is located on Streymoy Island. It is well-known for its little peninsula-sized ancient town, Tinganes, which is adorned with wooden cottages with grass roofs. Tórshavn Cathedral, which was restored in the 19th century, the Nordic House and the National Gallery of the Faroe Islands are all popular attractions to visit whilst in Torshavn. Established in the 13th century, throughout the years it’s grown to become one of the most inhabited areas in the Faroe Islands, as well as being a very popular tourist hotspot.

The Westmann Islands are made up of 15 archipelagos, which lie off the south coast of Iceland. Dating to 11,000 years ago, there is only one inhabited island - Heimaey Island. The largest of the islands, it’s incredibly picturesque, with brightly coloured houses, a breathtaking volcanic landscape and a large population of puffins that make Heimaey Island their home every summer. Vestmannaeyjabaer is the only town on the island, with just over 4000 permanent residents.

Located in the west of Iceland, on the Snaefellsnes peninsula, is the town of Grundarfjörur. It is positioned halfway between the sea and several mountain ranges. It has been twinned with the French town of Paimpol since 2004 and has an estimated population of 872. There are several popular attractions located close to the town, including the Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall and mountain range, including the Kirkjufell viewpoint that grants incredible views out towards the sea.

Situated in northwest Iceland, Isafjörður is a quaint town that’s beloved for its awe-inspiring landscapes. Not only does it feature historic and colourful wooden houses that date back to the 18th and 19th century, but a wide selection of attractions including the Bunarfoss waterfall, Arctic Fox Centre and the Naustahvilft hiking trail. The perfect place to capture breathtaking photographs, Isafjörður is a wonderful stop-off whilst on a cruise.

Beloved for its picturesque surroundings, colourful houses and hiking trails, Nanortalik in Greenland is situated on a small island on the edge of the Tasermiut Fjord. With just over 1000 inhabitants, it’s the 11 largest town in Greenland. With a name that means ‘the place where the polar bears go’, Nanortalik has a variety of attractions and landmarks to visit, including the open air museum, a community centre and a vibrant fish market.

If you love nature and the outdoors, Paaimiut is the ultimate destination. A beautiful town in southwestern Greenland, it’s filled with adventure trails, is home to the largest population of white-tailed eagles, and has an array of colourful, historic houses. Situated within the Sermersooq municipality, it’s also a popular fishing area, with a detailed history that dates back to 1500 BC.

The capital of Greenland, Nuuk, is a picturesque little town on its southwest coast. With Sermitsiaq mountain as a backdrop, the shoreline is lined with homes in a variety of vibrant colours, and its vast fjord system is famous for its waterfalls, icebergs, and humpback whales. There are several popular attractions in Nuuk that you can visit during your time there, including the Greenland National Museum and Archives, Nuuk Art Museum and the Ukkusissat mountain peak.

A truly magnificent city, St. Johns is the capital of the Newfoundland and Labrador provinces. Situated just off Canada’s Atlantic coast, it’s beloved for its vibrant and colourful houses, fascinating 500 year history and warm and welcoming residents. A perfect combination of small town charm, and all the contemporary amenities you require for a wonderful visit, St John’s is a picturesque gem.

Saint Pierre and Miquelon is a self-governing territory of France, and a unique island experience that visitors won’t find anywhere else. Located near to Newfoundland, this quiet destination was once taken by the British numerous times before finally being back in French possession in 1816. Now, it has plenty of history and culture to be discovered including Saint-Pierre Cathedral, Ile Aux Marins, L’Arche Museum and authentic French eateries.

A quaint, but vibrant city in Quebec, Saguenay has an array of natural and manmade attractions, including the Saguenay Fjord, the Musée du Fjord and the Parc de la Rivière-du-Moulin. Old Quebec has a unique feel as you explore the quaint streets and squares, and the church of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Shrine- the oldest pilgrimage destination in North America at over 350 years old. The surrounding boasts the 30m waterfall of Parc de la Chute-Montmorency and the gorgeous woodlands, lakes and rivers of Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier. In addition, learn all about the indigenous population of Canada at the Huron-Wendat heritage.

With a French-Canadian feel, highlights include Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal, Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel and the old port district. The city boasts a number of fascinating museums in the Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History and Montreal Science Centre as well as the scenic Montreal Botanical Garden. If looking to get out of the city, go to Mount Royal just outside the centre for sweeping views or the gorgeous skyline.
