Food and service excellent
Silver Dawn is a great ship with all amenities required.
Only disappointment was the change of itinerary due to various weather and strike related problems.
Missed St Malo and Porto also night in Lisbon with extra sea day instead.
Lost our inclusive excursions with no compensation offered or alternative excursions offered .
This is not a bargain cruise and they could at least given on board spend to compensate for the missed ports of call and cancelled excursions.

The ship is quite new so everything was in excellent condition. The suite staff were superb and friendly as were all other members of the crew. The food was good, ample and well presented but the amount on show in the buffet gave rise for concern about how much would be wasted. Less on show and replenished as necessary would be good. The excursions were well organised other than the shuttle which didn’t go to Newcastle despite being advertised as such. More an issue for Silversea than Iglu. All in all a great trip and superb value for money.

Arts Café was great, with a good changing selection of light bites and friendly staff.
Restaurant menus didn’t indicate if any dishes were plant based, and there was only one or two items changed daily.
The breakfast and lunch buffets had a great selection, but the only food we saw labelled as vegan or plant based were an odd desert. None of the salads and associated dressings were classified.
Most of the staff were very professional and helpful.
Loved that we were offered in-suite toiletries, including an option for sensitive skin

Callao is a charming seaside city in Peru, just a short distance from the nation’s capital, home to stunning sandy beaches (primarily on the La Punta peninsula), a vibrant culture, flavourful Peruvian food, and an extensive naval history. As a vital Spanish settlement throughout the colonial era, and a city home to Peru’s main airport and seaport, there is just so much to discover and enjoy when you travel to this bustling urban centre. However, with Lima so close, tours to the Peruvian capital are a must when visiting. An incredible city brimming with culture and history, you’ll find all the modern comforts of a capital here alongside fascinating landmarks, intriguing museums, and more. Whether you’re looking for a quieter visit, soaking in the atmosphere of the city while you wander its history-rich streets, or something a little more lively with boutique shopping and bars where there’s always a party, Lima has it all.
Things to do in Lima (Callao) - Overnight onboard:
Fortaleza del Real Felipe
One of the few existing military fortifications in Peru and the largest military construction by the Spanish in the Americas, the Fortaleza del Real Felipe (Real Felipe Fortress) is an impressive 18th century castle that now houses the Peruvian Army Museum. Throughout history, it has played a pivotal role in both national and international events – with it being a major flashpoint of conflict during colonial power struggles in the 18th century, Peruvian separatist struggles against Spanish colonialism in the 19th century, and the decolonisation of the Americas – given that the loss of this military stronghold in Peru was among the dominos that led to Peruvian independence.

Metropolitan Cathedral of Lima
Initially constructed circa 1538, and then reconstructed and improved upon throughout the 18th century, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Lima is a staggering Roman Catholic Church in the heart of Lima; known for being where the Treasure of Lima was hidden in 1820, an infamous urban legend that is yet to be fully proven false despite the fact that no treasure has been found, this cathedral now plays host to a museum showcasing a collection of notable artworks from Lima’s colonial period.
