Scarlet Lady ReviewsView Cruise Deals
My wife fell over on the ramp that was very steep we were promised special assistance that we asked for but never got it spoilt the whole embarking experience. The restaurant had no mushrooms or asparagus that was on the menu.
Scarlet Lady is designed for young Americans. It's not for experience, senior cruisers unless they want a phone in their hand all day, to do anything and everything on the stupid App. Also, very difficult to find a comfortable chair or a place where one's space is not invaded by loud music.
Everything on Virgin cruises depend on an App which is rubbish. There is no paper on board, no welcome pack, no information about restaurants, no cabin menu's, I am on holiday, I don't want to spend every minute looking at my phone to know where I am or to know what might be happening, to order a drink or food, or to book a table in a restaurant or to book a seat in a show. And why can I only visit a restaurant of my choice once during the 'cruise'. The seating throughout the ship is 50% stools and 50% uncomfortable chairs and the plastic 'garden chairs' in the Razzle Dazzle Cafe, (which is like a prison eating room with long tables seating a dozen people) are a joke, but not funny, nor was the bacon that came in a mug !!!. The 'buffet' facility on deck 15 provides inedible food. (the worst burger I have ever seen and a dead white, leather like omelette, which was served 30 seconds before our starter course of soup which was also inedible).....(The waiter smiled knowingly as she apologized). The public toilets have black floor, black walls, black doors, black urinals, black basins and stupid lighting, I walked into a full length mirror trying to find my way out !!! The man that designed the toilets had obviously never been in a public toilet. The ship was apparently designed by a team who had never been on a cruise, that was quite obvious, they omitted to provide tea and coffee facility in cabins. I was advised that I should order room service at 05.00 am if I needed a drink, but I don't want to be confronted by a waiter at that time in the altogether !!!, A kettle is a fundamental basic in any hotel room, B&B, tent etc, There was no shaver point in bathroom, and so much more that failed to impress. Go to Miami Scarlet Lady and Good Riddance.
Service was excellent, staff was excellent, food when we could get into the restaurant was excellent, the app was absolutely rubbish it kept throwing us out and we couldn’t book anything I was very disappointed and I would not recommend it to anybody else until it has been sorted out properly.
What an amazing ship to have gone on for our first ever cruise! The facilities onboard were brilliant, we had a cabin with a balcony which had its own hammock to relax in. All of the restaurants that we are at were incredible, the food was first class and we didn’t have a single bad meal! The staff throughout the shop were so attentive, polite and hard working, they were always happy to help with any issue or question. The ship has a lot of fitness classes that are included for you to book, the only downside I could see was that if you didn’t really want to do fitness activities then there wasn’t a great deal of other activities to do. The show we saw was very good and entertaining with some amazing performances, the scarlet night was also good fun. We had no excursions due to this just being an all at sea cruise, with excursions in place then this may solve the small issue of a lack of activities that are fitness based. I would definitely recommend this cruise to other but try to book and activities or restaurants as soon as you can to avoid disappointment. The virgin voyages app was very temperamental and caused a lot of issues for others as was continually crashing, the app is an integral part of the cruise so hopefully this will be improved soon!
Fantastic ship. No complaints at all. Excellent service and facilities. One small hiccup. We weren’t told in advance that we would have to book car parking in advance. Nearest parking was fully booked so we had to look for another. This was very stressful as we didn’t know the area. After an hour we found somewhere and had to pay £36 on return.
No enforcement of sanitise before entering a restaurant. Very little shows. No indoor pool. Pool exceptionally small Masks to be worn in communal areas, younger generation no masks anywhere and not challenged. Lovely cabin, good sized shower but tiny toilet area. Very cold looking (metal and yellow tiles, nothing else) rear deck bar area Over charged in credit card by £121 Although post cruise contact open 9-6 Saturday and Sunday, they are closed. Contact post cruise no one to assist.
We travelled on the new Virgin Voyager Scarlet Lady from Portsmouth, we stood and Queued for 4 hours to get a COVID test, our embarkation time should have been 2:45 but we eventually borded at 6pm. We were compensated for this, with free drinks and cruise credits to spend, the ship was lovely, cabins great although everything relied on the Virgin app working, which it didn’t prior to and during sailing . Communication on how to use the tech was lacking, which was frustrating. You had to scan QR codes for all maps and menus and order room services via the app. Wrist bands were also temperamental. The food was excellent and there were a large number of different restaurants, out side spaces were great weather not so good, show was very entertaining, in spite of the technology glitches, we had a great time and I can honestly say the crew were amazing. Would have liked a bit more live music. We really enjoyed the nightclub.
I had a great cruise and I was very pleased with the ship, some people didn't, like it but I was well impressed. Its different but that is what Mr Branson wanted. The check in was horrible for some people it took 5 hours, but the free drinks on the first night and the S100 helped sweeten the feeling's. The food was some of the best I have had. If you get a chance visit the Test Kitchen. The bathroom is small but I loved the shower. I would not hesitate going on her again if the price was right.
