Tips
Ambassador operate an automatic service charge and gratuity system which is automatically added on to your onboard account. When upgrading to the Ambassador fare this is already included in the price you are paying where as with the Standard fare you'll have to pay this extra charge after your cruise. Speciality Dining
Specialty restaurants allow travellers to enhance their dining experience during the cruise. This is a great way to add variety to your holiday or celebrate a special occasion. You can pay for meals in the special dining restaurants onboard.
Excursions
If you would like to do any excursions/tours while docked these will be an additional charge. Excursions/tours can’t currently be booked with us online but please contact us after you have made the booking if you would like to add these to your package. Alternatively these can be bought while on the ship but may be more expensive than pre-booking.
Parking
Car parking at the port or airport for the duration of your trip is not included within the price of the cruise. Port/airport parking can’t currently be booked with us online but please contact us after you have made the booking if you would like to add this to your package. An approximate cost for parking is between £12 - £20 per car per day. Alternatively we can arrange transfers from your home to the departure airport/port.

interior of ship was good , plenty of areas to relax . Food was of a good quality . Cabin was dark and dingy (port holes for windows) like being in a bat cave. Overall the cruise was enjoyable.

Sadly we would not sail on Renaissance again. A revamp was carried out in France and whilst carpets and lounge rooms furniture is comfortable, the air conditioning system is problematic.
The entertainment was amateurish and very repetitive - never experienced so many quizzes in one day. Also never seen so many jigsaws on a ship.
Our cabin on Deck 6 was quite large and we had lots of hanging space and hangers. However the bathroom was tired with a shower over the bath with a smelly curtain. The towels were changed daily but they are old and again tired.
This ship will cost Ambassador their well earned reputation in the UK if they do not sort out the problems. Many of the French staff are surly, rude and frankly not worthy of a job.
We were sold the cruise as an adult only, mainly British cruise. It was NOT!
Dual signage is confusing. At least one lift was out of service everyday.
Food in the MDR was often tepid or cool although it did improve in the second week after complaints. Food in the buffet was limited on occasions - an example they only had Coco Pops as a cereal choice. I saw a French passenger asking for granola which was given in a small bowl by the server. When I asked I was told it was only for special passengers. Needless to say after approaching the Director of Hotel Operations it was subsequently on the counter the next day. In the MDR many cereal options were available to order.

Renaissance ship has good points and some not very good, Cabins and corridors are very tired, its an old ship with refurbished public areas bars etc, staff lovely, drinks good, food OK, spa and gym good, Entertainment not bad, would I sale on her again, possibly not because compared to some we feel IGLU charged us way over the odds for this ship

Had a great time, lovely ports of call although one was repeated, cabin was perfect, loved the ship and the crew were excellent. Very much enjoyed the entertainment especially the Theatre@Sea programme and cast.
Food could be improved for me, not a fan of open dining either but no need to complain, it just didn't wow.
I didn't like the turnover of passengers, getting on and off at most of the ports, this does not make for a cohesive cruise with constant announcements in English and French.

Castelo do Queijo (Cheese Castle)
The Forte de Sao Francisco Xavier, which is commonly known as the Cheese Castle, is a 17th century coastal fortification just south of Praia de Matosinhos; standing on a prominent rocky outcrop, the fort played a pivotal role in the Siege of Porto (1832 - 1833) and the revolt of Maria da Fonte in 1846. Now, it houses a military museum and affords visitors the opportunity to admire Porto and the Portuguese coastline from a unique perspective. Its colloquial name comes from the fact that it was reportedly constructed on a circular rock formation resembling a wheel of cheese.
Church of Saint Ildefonso
A stunning 18th century church in central Porto, the Church of Saint Ildefonso boasts impressive proto-Baroque architecture and an incredible exterior featuring 1932 azulejo tilework. Built on the site of a chapel which dates back to at least 1296, the intricate designs of the outer tilework depict scenes from the life of Saint Ildefonso and imagery from the Gospels; within this twin-towered church you’ll find an impressive interior worth taking a moment to admire.
Praia de Matosinhos

Built in 1758, HMS Victory has over 246 years of service. An iconic attraction in Portsmouth, it has an incredible 104 guns and is a prominent attraction within easy reach of Porstmouth Harbour.
Mary Rose
A historical museum situated in the Historic Dockyards, you'll be able to explore this fascinating exhibit learning all about the iconic Mary Rose ship.

Additionally, the package cannot offset the cost of, or be a substitution for, special or private events such as cocktail parties, blessings or similar.
Premium teas and speciality coffees are included in the Ambassador Expedition Package only. Please note that any speciality coffees that include alcohol are included within your 15-beverage limit.
For the avoidance of doubt, for cruises of 2, 3 & 4 nights, prices are per person per cruise. For cruises of 5 nights or more, prices are based on per person per night. Ambassador Explorer & Expedition packages are only available to guests aged 18 years and over.
Ambassador Drinks Packages may be booked up to 7 days before the sailing date. If within 7 days of sailing, packages can only be purchased onboard, and the ‘Onboard Price’ will be applicable.
Full payment is required 90 days before the sailing date, or at the time of booking if less than 90 days.
Once within 14 days of departure, the cancellation of any ancillary items including Ambassador Drinks Packages, will be charged at 100% loss of monies and no refund will be applicable.
The Ambassador Adventurers (Children) Package is only available on advertised multi-generational cruises and subject to all adult occupants purchasing an Ambassador Drinks Package. Charges apply to children aged 3 to 17 years old at the time of sailing. Infants under 3 will not be charged and no package needs to be added.
Only one drink per person at any time may be ordered (minimum 15-minute wait between orders).
Alcoholic drinks are limited to 15 beverages per 24-hour period (6 am to 6 am). Alcoholic drinks requested above the daily limits will be charged with a 50% discount.
All drinks packages are non-transferable. Ordering drinks for other guests who are not on a drinks package, will result in the withdrawal of the benefit for the holder of the package i.e. with immediate effect the drinks package will be cancelled, and the guest will be required to purchase drinks from the standard menu. No refund for any withdrawn packages will be given.
All drinks within the Ambassador Drinks Packages are served by the glass only.
Please note that gratuities & service charges cannot be removed or adjusted if purchased within the package.
Please note that the Ambassador Drinks Packages are only available for beverages served on board and does not extend to pre or post-cruise arrangements, hotels, flights or any establishment ashore. The cost of the Ambassador Drinks Packages are calculated on the cruise duration and not the entire holiday duration.
Onboard purchase of the Ambassador Drinks Packages must be made within 24 hours of boarding the ship. For the avoidance of doubt, a cut-off date and time will be stipulated in the daily programme.
The quantity of drinks that the ship can carry onboard is limited by the size of the vessel and certain drinks included within the Ambassador drinks packages may be unavailable from time to time, in which case no refund is allowed.
No discounts are offered on bottles of wine, champagne or spirits.
For the avoidance of doubt, available drinks included within each package are highlighted on the bar menus.
Packages do not apply to the purchase of bottles of spirits, bottles of wine or any items offered in shops onboard.
Ambassador Cruise Line reserves the right to introduce exclusions or limitations without prior notice.
Ordering a double shot is not permitted under the programme as it counts as two drinks.
Any bottles and cans will be served opened.
The ship's management reserves the right to refuse the service of alcohol at any time in accordance with Ambassador’s policy for the Responsible Service of Alcohol.
The drinks package applies to the full advertised cruise duration, other than the day of disembarkation where drinks will be charged at the standard bar menu rate. For the avoidance of doubt if the cruise is advertised as a 7-night cruise, then 7 shall be applied as the multiplier to the price of the package.

In line with the responsible service of alcohol policy, bar staff may refuse service if a guest appears to be heavily intoxicated.
Purezza bottled water in cabins isn’t included in any package and is chargeable at the applicable rate of £1.65 per bottle.
Guests can purchase a refillable Purezza water bottle from any outlet for £17.95, allowing them unlimited refills in this bottle.
A Purezza package can be purchased for £9.95 if you bring the bottle back on a future cruise. This charge also applies if you use your own bottle.

Ambassador Drinks Packages may be booked up to 7 days before the sailing date. If within 7 days of sailing, packages can only be purchased onboard, and the ‘Onboard Price’ will be applicable.
Full payment is required 90 days before the sailing date, or at the time of booking if less than 90 days.
Once within 14 days of departure, the cancellation of any ancillary items including Ambassador Drinks Packages, will be charged at 100% loss of monies and no refund will be applicable.
The Ambassador Adventurers (Children) Package is only available on advertised multi-generational cruises and subject to all adult occupants purchasing an Ambassador Drinks Package. Charges apply to children aged 3 to 17 years old at the time of sailing. Infants under 3 will not be charged and no package needs to be added.
Only one drink per person at any time may be ordered (minimum 15-minute wait between orders).
Alcoholic drinks are limited to 15 beverages per 24-hour period (6 am to 6 am). Alcoholic drinks requested above the daily limits will be charged with a 50% discount.
All drinks packages are non-transferable. Ordering drinks for other guests who are not on a drinks package, will result in the withdrawal of the benefit for the holder of the package i.e. with immediate effect the drinks package will be cancelled, and the guest will be required to purchase drinks from the standard menu. No refund for any withdrawn packages will be given.
All drinks within the Ambassador Drinks Packages are served by the glass only.
Please note that gratuities & service charges cannot be removed or adjusted if purchased within the package.
Please note that the Ambassador Drinks Packages are only available for beverages served on board and does not extend to pre or post-cruise arrangements, hotels, flights or any establishment ashore. The cost of the Ambassador Drinks Packages are calculated on the cruise duration and not the entire holiday duration.
Onboard purchase of the Ambassador Drinks Packages must be made within 24 hours of boarding the ship. For the avoidance of doubt, a cut-off date and time will be stipulated in the daily programme.
The quantity of drinks that the ship can carry onboard is limited by the size of the vessel and certain drinks included within the Ambassador drinks packages may be unavailable from time to time, in which case no refund is allowed.
No discounts are offered on bottles of wine, champagne or spirits.
For the avoidance of doubt, available drinks included within each package are highlighted on the bar menus.
Packages do not apply to the purchase of bottles of spirits, bottles of wine or any items offered in shops onboard.
Ambassador Cruise Line reserves the right to introduce exclusions or limitations without prior notice.
Ordering a double shot is not permitted under the programme as it counts as two drinks.

The ship's management reserves the right to refuse the service of alcohol at any time in accordance with Ambassador’s policy for the Responsible Service of Alcohol.
The drinks package applies to the full advertised cruise duration, other than the day of disembarkation where drinks will be charged at the standard bar menu rate. For the avoidance of doubt if the cruise is advertised as a 7-night cruise, then 7 shall be applied as the multiplier to the price of the package.

In line with the responsible service of alcohol policy, bar staff may refuse service if a guest appears to be heavily intoxicated.
Purezza bottled water in cabins isn’t included in any package and is chargeable at the applicable rate of £1.65 per bottle.
Guests can purchase a refillable Purezza water bottle from any outlet for £17.95, allowing them unlimited refills in this bottle.
A Purezza package can be purchased for £9.95 if you bring the bottle back on a future cruise. This charge also applies if you use your own bottle.

This is the basic package on offer with Ambassador. The Experience Package includes all non-alcoholic drinks, which include unlimited soft drinks, plus gratuities and service charges for the duration of your cruise.
How to book
If you select the “Ambassador Fare” at the point of booking, the Expedition Drinks Package is included. Otherwise, you can add on your desired package up to 7 days before your sailing date or purchase once aboard. If you purchase through Iglu, you will have to call our call centre or if you book directly through Ambassador, you can use their portal.

The Ambassador Drinks Packages are only available to purchase for the entire duration of the cruise and if all occupants of the cabin purchase the same package.
Drinks are for the consumption of the package purchaser/s only.
All Ambassador Drinks Packages exclude drinks/snacks from the cabin/suite mini bar and bottles of water (large and small). Tea and coffee ordered at the bars are also excluded from the Ambassador Drinks Packages, with the exception of the Ambassador Expedition Package. Additionally, the package cannot offset the cost of, or be a substitution for, special or private events such as cocktail parties, blessings or similar.
Premium teas and speciality coffees are included in the Ambassador Expedition Package only. Please note that any speciality coffees that include alcohol are included within your 15-beverage limit.
