Ship is a smaller traditional cruise ship with all of the amenities of the newer larger ships but without being overcrowded and loud. Decor is very good but a refit is over due. Staff very professional. Cabin well thought out with a larger than expected balcony. Entertainment really good.

We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise, but I have to say that the Noordam, has some of the most uncomfortable furniture, that I have ever encountered! The seats in the theatre being particularly bad. No wonder the shows were so poorly supported. The quality of the acts was also very disappointing. On the other hand the staff and the food were exceptionally good.

Siem Reap - Welcome Dinner
DAY 2
Time at Port: TBD
Starting your exciting adventure in Siem Reap, the second-largest city in Cambodia, you’ll enjoy an incredible welcome dinner at the glamorous Chanrey Tree Restaurant – a riverside dining spot in the heart of the city centre. Offering a refined dining experience that highlights the finest traditional Cambodian cuisine, you’ll have the chance to indulge in a sensational menu of classic Khmer dishes made with a modern twist. Complemented with a colourful cocktail, this is a fantastic way to introduce yourself to the incredible culture of Cambodia – all while soaking in the serene atmosphere of the Siem Reap River.
Things to see:
Siem Reap River
A winding river that flows from the Phom Kulen mountain range and cuts through the heart of Siem Reap, the Siem Reap River started as a fast-flowing channel of water – fast-flowing and quick to erode the environment around it. Over hundreds of years, and thanks to the introduction of Barays, the flow of the river has slowed and gained a multitude of meanders on its route from the mountains to the sea.
Prahok Ktis
A Cambodian delicacy, Prahok Kitish is a dipping sauce made of fermented fish, pork, and thinly-sliced river fish braised with coconut cream and kaffir lime leaves. It’s often served alongside baby aubergines and blanched vegetables crudités. Sweet, salty, and a little bit spicy, this unique dish will leave you wanting more.
Cambodian Sour Soup
A soothing soup that takes many forms across Cambodia and Southeast Asia, Sour Soup (which isn’t actually that sour at all) brings together a variety of local vegetables, spices, and different meats to create a warming, flavourful broth. Often served with rice, this mouthwatering dish is worth tasting.

Siem Reap - Angkor Complex Tour
DAY 3
Time at Port: TBD
While admiring the impressive Angkor Wat Temple Complex from afar is far from a bad experience, this comprehensive full-day tour will give you the chance to explore the ancient heart of the Khmer Empire in more detail; throughout the day, you’ll have the opportunity to marvel at the remarkable surviving ruins of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, and the wider Angkor area. Starting in the centre of the complex, you’ll head east to Ta Prohm. A jungle-surrounded temple famous for featuring in 2001’s Tomb Raider, this unique ruin was originally completed in 1186 and is known for its dilapidated state due to the invasive snake-like roots of Tetrameles trees. Once you’ve spent some time here and stopped for lunch, you’ll head to the South Gate of Angkor Thom; this dramatic entrance is lined with statues depicting good and evil gods, with many of the original statues restored to give visitors a sense of what it was like in its prime. Through this gate, you will visit Bayon – an intricately-decorated temple adorned with hundreds of smiling faces – before continuing on to Phimeanakas. Climbing to the top of this pyramid-shaped temple, you’ll have the chance to admire the awe-inspiring sight of the Angkor ruins from above. You’ll end your tour of the Angkor Wat Temple Complex by taking in the impressive wall of the Terrace of the Elephants before returning to your hotel.
Things to see:
Angkor Wat Temple
Considered the largest religious structure in the world, Angkor Wat was originally constructed as a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu in 1150 before transitioning into a Buddhist temple by the end of the century; one of the best examples of Khmer architecture surviving today, most of this temple’s surfaces are carved with reliefs depicting scenes from Indian literature and the site is home to over 1,700 depictions of Hindu and Buddhist deities.
Angkor City
Capital city of the Khmer Empire and home to Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, researchers believe that Angkor was the largest pre-industrial city in the world by surface area which utilised a complicated water management system to support an estimated population of 750,000 to one million people throughout the late 9th century to the 15th century.
Angkor Thom
The last and most enduring capital of the Khmer Empire, this stunning city sits on the west bank of the Siem Reap River roughly a mile from Angkor Wat; established in the late 12th century by Jayavarman VII and a key location in his expansion-focused building programs, this site is home to some spectacular Khmer ruins – including the Bayon Buddhist temple, the Preah Palilay Buddhist sanctuary, and the Prasat Suor Prat towers.
Phimeanakas Temple
Phimeanakas is a Khelang-style temple built throughout the reign of Rajendravarman II at the end of the 10th century, with construction actually completing under his successor Suryavarman I. It sits within Angkor Thom, and legends suggest that it was here Khmer kings would spend the first watch of every night with a woman thought to represent a Naga (divine half-human, half-serpent beings) to discern whether death would befall him, or calamity would strike his kingdom.
Terrace of the Elephants
Part of Angkor Thom, the Terrace of the Elephants was a platform used by King Jayavarman VII to watch his victorious returning armies. Roughly 350 metres long, the eastern face of the wall is adorned with carvings of elephants and what we see today is primarily the foundational platforms on which a larger structure would have once stood.

Phnom Penh - Infamous Killing Fields
DAY 6
Time at Port: TBD
The significant impact of the radical Khmer Rouge regime is felt throughout Cambodia, and this part of your tour aims to highlight why that is through an exploration into some of the atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge under dictator Pol Pot in the late 1970s. Starting with a visit to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former schoolhouse that was transformed into one of the regime’s largest detention and torture centres, you’ll have the chance to learn more about Cambodia’s darkest years through exhibits that feature contemporary equipment, first-hand accounts, imagery pulled directly from Khmer Rouge records, and preserved rooms showcasing the conditions here during its use. A sobering sight, it’s important to be prepared; this museum does not shy away from the brutality of the past. You’ll continue on from the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum to Choueng Ek, one of Cambodia’s most infamous Killing Fields, where a Buddhist stupa now stands in memorial to the millions who suffered under the Khmer Rouge. This impactful tour highlights Cambodia’s resilience and the nation’s significant journey towards healing the wounds of its past.
Things to see:
Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum
A museum chronicling the Cambodian genocide on the site of Security Prison 21, a significant detention and torture centre under the Khmer Rouge regime, the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is a chilling site educating visitors on the atrocities committed under Pol Pot throughout 1975 to 1979. With some of the rooms within Tuol Sleng still appearing exactly as they did when the Khmer Rouge were ousted in 1979, alongside extensive records and thousands of photographs, you’ll witness the conditions and equipment used here first-hand; with the imagery here graphic, as much of it is taken from the extensive Khmer Rouge regime’s records, it’s important to be prepared.
Choueng Ek
A former orchard, Choeung Ek is the best-known of the roughly 300 Killing Fields used by the Khmer Rouge to execute over a million Cambodians during the Cambodian genocide from 1975 to 1979. Now a memorial marked by a Buddhist stupa, over 5,000 human skulls are on display here as a chilling reminder of what took place and the site itself is still littered with human remains.
Khmer Rouge Regime
The popular name for Cambodia’s Communist Party of Kampuchea, which ruled the nation between 1975 and 1979 under radical revolutionary and dictator Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge regime was a totalitarian, repressive rulership that murdered hundreds of thousands of those it saw as political enemies, enforced a genocide of Cambodia’s minority populations, and enacted failed agricultural reforms which resulted in widespread famine. It’s estimated that up to two million died under the regime, and sites like the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Choueng Ek remain start reminders of its abhorrence.
