Most cruise lines make the atrium the heart and soul of their ships. Holland America seem to have turned their back on this idea and as a result their ships have lost any soul. Entertainment is focussed around the pool, the piano bar near the casino (strangely?) and the Rolling Stone lounge. The atrium seating area around guest services is a wasteland largely empty except when used for disembarkation. There is a bar area above and beside the Pinnacle Grill but these are quieter, non-activity areas. Many people use the Crows Nest area at the bow of the ship and although there is a crafts area and a games area here, again this is a quiet area. cabin was good and general decor is good but a bit boring. The food is generally good, better than some cruise lines, but the entertainment is average. The Rolling Stones lounge was generally busy, but the group had a limited set of songs which were repeated nightly. Overall 3 stars.

Never sailed with Holland America before - usually a Princess or Royal Caribbean cruiser but we were very pleased with the experience. Food, Beverages entertainment and staff were all very very good , we were always greeted by staff and the bar staff remembered our names and drinks which was nice - maybe we went to the bar too often :)
Excursions were very well organised as was embarkation and disembarkation we had great holiday.

First time with this cruise company and we loved it. The service was excellent. The crew were very friendly and helpful. My only problem was that we couldn’t use our drinks package on the beach at half moon.
