Through this exciting tour of Old Delhi, an area of the Central Delhi district that once acted as the capital of the Mughal empire (from 1648 until the empire’s fall in 1857), you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the history of this remarkable city and a chance to immerse yourself in the culture that survives today. With a knowledgeable English-speaking guide, you’ll spend some time wandering the bustling bazaar of Chandi Chowk – one of the oldest marketplaces in Old Delhi – before visiting one of India’s largest mosques: Jama Masjid.
Things to see:
Chandi Chowk
Found near the Old Delhi Railway Station and the iconic Red Fort, Lal Qila, this bustling marketplace is one of the oldest in Old Delhi and remains one of India’s largest wholesale markets to this day; constructed by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1650, shallow channels of water were built to reflect the moonlight throughout the marketplace – giving the marketplace its name, which means Moonlight Square.
Jama Masjid
One of the largest mosques in India, this stunning symbol of Islamic power across India was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan between 1644 and 1656; closely identified with the ethos of Old Delhi, this landmark was also a site of political significance throughout India’s period of British Rule.
Humayun’s Tomb
Commissioned in 1558 by Humayun’s first wife and chief consort, Empress Bega Begum, this remarkable structure was the first garden tomb in India and the first building to utilise red sandstone in construction to such a scale; the complex surrounding the tomb represents an important development in Mughal architecture and highlights the early influences of Persian designs and architectural styles.
Qutub Minar
Located at the site of Delhi’s oldest fortified city, Lal Kot, Qutub Minar is one of the most iconic minarets in India; built between 1199 and 1220, the surface of this ‘victory tower’ is intricately decorated with inscriptions and geometric patterns.

An impressive 340-room palace sitting within the 320-acre Presidential Estate in the heart of New Delhi, Rashtrapati Bhavan (on which construction was completed in 1929) is currently the official residence of the President of India; formerly the Viceroy’s House during India’s period of British colonial rule, this is the second-largest residence of any head of state in the world and was interestingly built with 700 million bricks and a minimal amount of steel supports.
India Gate
Formerly known as the All India War Memorial, this monument stands as a memorial to all the Indian Army soldiers who died in the First World War and the Third Anglo-Afghan War between 1914 and 1921; drawing on ancient Roman architectural styles, this was built as part of the British Imperial War Graves Commission of 1917 – which was done to commemorate and remember soldiers who died in the First World War across the commonwealth.

DAY 8
Time at Port: TBD
While in Jaipur, the Amber Fort is a must-see destination; so, you’ll be pleased to know that this comprehensive tour of the palatial complex will give you a chance to spend some time exploring this remarkable landmark. Inside the fort, which is commonly referred to as Amer Palace due to the opulence of the structures within its dramatic walls, you’ll visit several of the intricately designed halls here – including the dazzling Sheesh Mahal and its awe-inspiring vistas of Maota Lake. Built in 1592 by Man Singh I, Amber Fort was once home to the Rajput Maharajas and remains a magnificent example of the artistry of the Hindu Rajput architectural style to this day.
Things to see:
Sheesh Mahal
Often referred to as the Palace of Mirrors, this stunning pavilion in the third courtyard of the Amber Fort is famed for its intricate mirror-work and use of embellished, coloured glass to create incredible floral patterns – all of which would glitter brightly under candlelight.
Amer Palace
A shining example of Hindu Rajput architecture, despite the fact that some buildings in the complex are clearly influenced by the Islamic Mughal architectural style, this opulent palace – which was built in 1592 – is spread across four levels, each with its own courtyard.
Maota Lake
Located at the base of Amber Fort, this lake is home to an island with a stunning saffron garden by the name of Kesar Kyari Bagh; providing water for Amber Fort and the common people living in the surrounding area, a statue of Lord Ganesh is notably taken to be submerged in the waters of the lake during the Ganesh chaturthi festival.

DAY 8
Time at Port: TBD
Known as the Pink City, due to the fact that most of the major buildings in the old city are made of red and pink sandstone, Jaipur is the largest city in Rajasthan and home to some stunning architecture and numerous cultural landmarks well-worth exploring. During this insightful tour of the city, you’ll have the chance to marvel at the impressive City Palace of Jaipur and Hawa Mahal – both of which are a blend of Hindu Rajput and Islamic Mughal architectural styles – before venturing into the bustling bazaars of The Walled City: Jaipur’s old city, sitting behind six-metre-tall walls. A unique day tour that touches on Jaipur’s rich history and culture beyond the colonial influences of the 18th and 19th centuries, you certainly won’t forget your time exploring this incredible city.
Things to see:
Hawa Mahal
Known famously as the Palace of the Winds, this impressive building on the edge of the City Palace complex – which is similarly built from pink and red sandstone – was completed in 1799; featuring a lattice-like honeycomb exterior with 953 small windows, and acting as an extension into the City Palace’s Zenana (women’s chambers), this was originally built to afford royal ladies the chance to observe the life and events of the streets below without being seen.
City Palace of Jaipur
A government headquarters that serves as the ceremonial and administrative seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur, the building of this palace complex was completed in 1732 and has been the site of countless cultural, industrial, and religious events over the years; still the home of the Jaipur royal family and its’ staff, this palace also houses several restaurants and galleries alongside the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum.
Jantar Mantar
Completed in 1734, this impressive monument is a collection of astronomical instruments – built by Rajput king Sawai Jai Singh, founder of Jaipur – that allows astronomers to observe astronomical positions and chart the locations of celestial objects with the naked eye; home to the world’s largest stone sundial, there’s surprisingly very little evidence to suggest that this was actually used in a scientific capacity following its construction.
The Walled City
Often referred to as the Heart of the Pink City, this thriving historical and cultural hub represents old Jaipur City; famed for its uniform pink buildings, market bazaars, and cultural landmarks, you’ll find a wealth of unique experiences within these six-metre-high walls – each of the nine chowkris within serves a distinct purpose, with some home to important temples, some home to marketplaces, and more.

From the momemt we arrived at the terminal we were looked after by the yacht club butlers until we disemarked 7 days later.
The ship is massive and impressive I must admit we prefer smaller but the service was second to none. Entertainment fantastic and the food in Yacht club was hot and delicious. Everyone tastes and needs were cateted for. The other specialty restaurants were superb.
We would absolutely reccomend and go with MSC YACHT CLUB again.
But
I dont think we would be regular passenger on Europa, the ship with 6000 on board was noisey and very busy. It would be a great holiday if you have children as in the main area as something for everyone.

She is a beautiful ship and even though she can carry a vast amount of passengers, we never felt as if it was too busy. So many venues to explore made it very interesting and varied. We dined in Butchers Cut one night which was good, also our waiter in the main dining room looked after my gluten intolerance splendidly! He even brought me 2 Lobsters one evening as I had had to wait for a while for my meal. Delicious!
Our cabin was enormous with a huge balcony and kept very clean by our Steward.
I have no complaints about MSC World Europa and would choose to sail on her again in the future

Amazing ship, bright, light, and shiny. All ultra modern. However, it's very noisy, very loud and always so busy. The buffet was horrendous with so many people jostling and shoving. No where to relax or be quiet. The cabin was good, clean and spacious with a good bathroom. Food average at best. Very expensive as you have to pay extra for lots of things , such as port transfers.

Delhi, a veritable megacity home to the Indian capital of New Delhi, is a unique urban metropolis steeped in a rich history and overflowing with culture.

Jaipur - Tour of Jaipur
DAY 8
Time at Port: TBD
You’ll also have the chance to visit the remarkable Jantar Mantar in Jaipur; the largest stone and marble observatory in the world, this impressive monument to scientific innovation allows for the observation of celestial positions with the naked eye. To complete this particular experience, the evening will see you enjoy a cooking lesson and dinner at a local restaurant.
