A forest-covered island around 12km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Ilha Grande is the perfect destination for the explorers among you. With roughly 63% of the island covered by the Ilha Grande State Park, and numerous smaller reserves in place protecting the flora, fauna, and traditional communities that reside here, 87% of the island has a protected status. While you won’t find too many attractions here, this is a great place to get in touch with nature and explore a unique environment that – in part, at least – is endangered.

Here, you’ll find the Rambla, a riverfront avenue that’s one of the world’s longest continuous sidewalks – which just highlights how perfect Montevideo is if you’re looking to take a laid-back wander here. Beyond this, though, if you’re looking for a little more action, you’ll find a bustling marketplace in Mercado del Puerto, intriguing exhibitions in the Andes Museum and Museo El Juguetero (just two of the several incredible museums and galleries in Montevideo), and fantastic food everywhere you turn. With all the modern comforts of a capital city, but a relaxed atmosphere that lets you savour the little things, a visit to this metropolis is worth looking forward to.

Medium sized older ship. One large buffet. Couple of pools. Lots of bars. Lots of children and teenagers on board. Swift embarkation and disembarkation. Dedicated msc terminal in barcelona with lots of taxis. Filtered water from a machine no bottled water. Water in drinks package otherwise paid for. Cabin on back of ship. Noisy with engine and water noises but not much of an issue for myself.

Beautiful ship, well maintained very helpful friendly staff. Painless embarkation process. . Only downside was noise levels in buffet area at peak times due to young families and schoolchildren ( half term ? ). No beverage making facilities in the cabin & no launderette facilities apart from ships main laundry.

The cabin was ok, very nice but there was a lack of kettle and tea making facility unlike we had have had on previous cruises. The cleaner was also very friendly.
The staff around the ship were very friendly and made us feel very welcome with the exception of the reception staff, there was one girl with glasses that was rude and didn’t even know her stuff!! She was a very big disappointment.
In the restaurant our server at the our table 826, Villa Verde was very attentive and helpful. Merry in one of the bars (green one) was amazing always smiling and asking if we were having a lovely time, he is a credit to your team. Other disappointments, were the lack of butter in the restaurant, Bora Bora, may I suggest that this is placed by the bread and no serviettes/tissues on the tables.
The food overall was ok, whilst there was plenty and the variety was good, the quality wasn’t as good as I have experienced on previous cruises. My friend also stated that on previous MSC cruises the food was better.
At times we also felt that the lack of English announcements was lacking too. I know we were in the minority but English was lacking.
The entertainment was nice, the shows in the theatre were very good, the acrobats with the girl in the hoop was good, but we didn’t need to see this 5 evenings out of 7! It was a little repetitive.
We didn’t really join in the activities but it was nice to see and watch so many of them happening around the ship.
We joined some excursions. In Marseille, we joined the walking tour and visited the Xmas markets, the guide was very pleasant although I did feel that he should have supported us around the markets, from here he gave good directions on how we made make our own way back to the ship, but for some he could have given more support, I. e. waiting for us have free time around the markets and meet back to take us back to the ship.
In Paloma, the guide was very helpful and informative she was assisted throughout the day and was very interesting.
In Tunis we also had a lovely day, the guide was very pleasant and friendly, she was a little repetitive on some info but overall she made the day a happy one.
Despite the few little touches that were missing, Overall we had a lovely holiday and would travel with MSC again.

Camboriú is a charming municipality in Santa Catarina, Brazil, that offers a peaceful, rural contrast to the "Dubai of Brazil" next door. While Balneário is known for skyscrapers and beaches, Camboriú is celebrated for its lush green valleys, rolling hills, and authentic rural tourism.
Cachoeira do Encanto is a refreshing, emerald sanctuary tucked away in the lush Camboriú hills. This private estate features clear, cool falls and shallow pools that offer a perfect natural escape from the coastal heat. With its rustic BBQ kiosks and a restaurant serving hearty wood-fired Brazilian meals, the site perfectly balances wild Atlantic Forest beauty with family-friendly comfort.
Cachaçaria do Tio
A visit to Cachaçaria do Tio is a spirited dive into the heart of Brazilian rural tradition. Located in the tranquil countryside of Camboriú, this family-run distillery offers an authentic look at how cachaça Brazil's famous sugarcane spirit is crafted using time-honoured methods.
Pico da Pedra
Hiking to the summit of Pico da Pedra is a rewarding challenge that offers the most dramatic panoramic views in the Camboriú region. The trek leads you upward through dense, vibrant Atlantic Forest, where the canopy provides a humid but welcome shade until you reach the rocky peak. From this elevated vantage point, you are met with a staggering visual contrast: the peaceful, rolling green hills and rural valleys of Camboriú stretch out on one side, while the glittering, glass and steel skyline of Balneário Camboriú stands tall against the deep blue Atlantic on the other. It is a powerful spot to witness the meeting of Brazil's wild interior and its modern coastal ambition, making every steep step of the climb worth the effort.

A monumental example of neo-classical architecture in the heart of Montevideo, the Legislative Palace of Uruguay acts as the meeting place of the General Assembly of Uruguay, the seat of the legislative branch of the Uruguayan government, and a remarkable landmark to see when you visit. Built between 1904 and 1925, it was constructed to commemorate 100 years of Uruguayan independence.
Obelisk of Montevideo
Built in 1930 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Constitution of Uruguay as a homage to the original members of the General Assembly, this three-sided structure stretches 40 metres up and is flanked by three bronze structures representing Law, Liberty, and Force. In 1983, it was the site of Rio de Libertad – the nation’s largest demonstration ever, demanding an end to the civil-military dictatorship in place at the time.
Palacio Salvo
Standing 95 metres tall, this stunning structure takes advantage of eclectic architectural designs to deliver one of the most remarkable buildings in Montevideo. Built with the intention of being a hotel in 1928, it’s now a mixture of private residences and office spaces – though tours of the building are available at select times during the day.

Guests can also enjoy up to 15 alcoholic beverages within a 24-hour period with this drinks package.
Drink packages are non-transferable and cannot be shared with other guests, being valid for one drink per order. Violation of these terms may result in cancellation of a guest's package without entitlement to a refund or credit of any kind.
Packages are sold on a cruise basis and not per day or any other basis. The price applies to all days of the cruise, except the day of disembarkation. Once activated on board, packages cannot be cancelled or refunded. Packages must be booked by all guests occupying the same cabin, travelling together and wishing to dine at the same table. This includes minors, for whom the Minors Package must be booked.
If you wish to dine together you must be on the same drinks package. Regardless of which drinks package you choose, a Minors Package must be purchased for all children within the travel party. For example, if you're travelling in a group of two adults and two children, both adults must be on the same package and the children on the Minors Package.
The package is not obligatory for children under 3 years of age (i.e. who have not yet reached their third birthday). The following exclusions apply: tobacco, souvenir glasses, ice cream menus, retail items, minibar, cabin service, promotions and Signature Venues such as Venchi 1878 , Jean-Philippe Maury venues, MSC Virtuosa Starship Club, MSC World Europa Coffee Emporium, MSC World Europa Raj Polo Tea Room regardless of the price of drinks, cabin service and promotions. You must be of legal age to consume alcohol. Other terms and conditions may apply. Guests under the legal drinking age with respect to the ship's operating area are not permitted to purchase or consume alcohol. Drinks and liquor may be substituted according to availability and itinerary.
Please note, if you have purchased a drinks package after 18th December 2024 and are departing on a sailing from 1st April 2025 onwards, you will have a limit of 15 alcoholic drinks per person, per day. There is no cap on non-alcoholic drinks and you'll have the option to purchase additional alcoholic drinks. This is also applicable for MSC Yacht Club guests. However, if you have purchased your drinks package before 18th December 2024, OR your sailing is before April 1st 2025 this limit does not apply.
