Our first cruise and we absolutely loved it. Cannot find a fault with anything at all. All the crew were, without exception, fantastic. Ship was great, cabin was spotless and beds were very comfortable. Food was really good and service faultless. We went on the 5 day Amsterdam and bulbfields cruise which was really good. Our only complaint was that we would have preferred to miss out Rotterdam, which felt like we were in any large city . Nothing special to see. We would have preferred more time in Amsterdam to check out the museums etc.

The French capital, this impressive city is overflowing with incredible historical landmarks, fascinating cultural experiences, world-renowned museums and galleries, impressive architecture, and a culinary landscape worth indulging in. With so much to see and do when you arrive, you’ll be spoilt for choice the moment you disembark. From strolling along the Seine while admiring breathtaking landmarks like the Eifell Tower and faithfully-reconstructed Notre-Dame Cathedral of Paris to marvelling at the Mona Lisa and more in the Musée du Louvre, tucking into authentic French cuisine in a gourmet bistro, exploring the vibrant gardens of Champ-de-Mars and Jardin des Tuileries, and so much more, there really is something for every type of traveller here. You’ll also be less than an hour away from Disneyland Paris via train, if twisting rollercoasters are more your scene. A magnificent modern metropolis boasting one of the world’s most impressive cultural landscapes, an unrivalled culinary scene, and an impressive array of attractions certain to accommodate anyone who visits, it’s impossible not to fall in love with this sensational city.
Things to do in Paris, France:
Musée du Louvre
Housed in a former royal palace originally built in the late 12th and early 13th centuries, Musée du Louvre is among the most famous museums in the world, housing some of the most canonical works of Western art alongside staggering collections of Egyptian antiquities, Asian artwork, ancient Greek and Roman artefacts, Islamic art, and Objets d’art from the Middle Ages onwards. Not only is this the largest museum in the world, but also the most-visited. Within, you’ll find everything from Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo to the Sarcophagus of Eshmunazar II, Madame du Barry’s Louis XVI-style commode, which dates back to 1772, and so much more. Every corner of this incredible museum is full of fascinating artwork to admire and historic artefacts to uncover; it’s, without a doubt, a must-visit destination when spending any amount of time in Paris.
Notre-Dame Cathedral of Paris
An iconic 12th-century Catholic cathedral dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Notre-Dame is widely considered one of the world’s best examples of French Gothic architecture, and it pioneered several architectural features during its construction. Famous for housing three pipe organs and an immense set of church bells, Notre-Dame was severely damaged during the French Revolution. Interestingly, Victor Hugo’s novel The Hunchback of Notre-Dame played an important part in inspiring interest that eventually led to its restoration throughout the 1840s and 1850s. It was then significantly damaged by fire in 2019, but has since been faithfully reconstructed and is now open again to explore and admire.
Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre
Overlooking Paris atop Montmartre, a major hill in the city’s 18th arrondissement, Basilique du Sacré-Cœur is a breathtaking minor basilica dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and is one landmark worth making time to visit when exploring the French capital. Completed and consecrated in the early 20th century, the views from atop Montmartre are unrivalled; when you’re not admiring the stunning architecture of the Basilica, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the entire city. From the hill, you’ll have no trouble spotting the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame. For even better views, access to the dome atop Basilique du Sacré-Cœur is available for a nominal fee; the sweeping views of Paris you’ll enjoy here are unforgettable.
