If you choose the Princess Standard fare, a daily service charge of $16 - $18 per person, depending on your cabin, is added to your account at the end of the cruise. If you choose the Princess Plus or Premium fare this already covered in the cost of your cruise.

We chose this particular cruise for the itinery which was excellent. The Diamond Princess is a lovely ship, a little dated in decor and needing a little tlc in places. However, she was clean and the staff were all very friendly. The entertainment was a mixed bag, the theatre shows just didn't work for us but around the ship we found some very talented musicians/singers. As the passengers were mostly Japanese we found it to have a relaxed rather than a party vibe which suited this port heavy trip. Iglu are a good company to work with on planning a vacation and we would choose them again in the future.

A lovely ship with friendly staff. We travelled around Japan and the itinerary was also arranged well with a good choice of excursions. We had a mini suite and this was very spacious. Food was good. Some service in the dining room was a little slow at busy times.

This ship being pretty old and worn out with lots of repairs needed sooner rather than later in my opinion is saved by the terrific crew and staff who after over 30 cruises I can honestly say are right up there with the best we've experienced. Every member of crew and staff are working to the same goal of making the customer experience memorable. My only complaint were the midday and evening announcements were really poor and very hard to make out probably due to the old and poor PA system but also the Captains English accent was not great. The ship does lack the variety of restaurants and bars but still manages to cater for both Japanese and American/ English mix the ship was full of. Princess as a company need to get this ship updated as it looks like they are flogging a dead horse. The cabins being on an older ship were more generous than the modern ships and for our case the cabin steward was excellent in keeping the rest of the crew. The excursion tours were ok but vastly overpriced as always on Princess albeit well organised. We look forward to another Princess cruise in the future and hope the crew/staff are as good on the next.
