This scenic park is famous for two major natural attractions- the Boiling Pots and Rainbow Falls. The Boiling Pots are a series of hot pools flowing like bubbling water, while Rainbow Falls is an 80ft waterfall casting spectrums of light as the spray catches the sun.

Created by lava flows in 1881, the Kaumana Caves are within easy reach of Hilo town. Free to explore, it’s a fascinating area within the state park that comprises picturesque cave areas, alongside lush wildlife.

This luscious state park is the perfect place to get in touch with the great outdoors while visiting Kahului on Maui; vibrant and jaw-droppingly beautiful, this region offers everyone the chance to hike through the Hawaiian countryside, marvel at the magnificent landscapes here, and enjoy a fantastic view of the Iao Needle – a 1,200-foot tall rock formation often shrouded in mist. You’ll need to pick up tickets to enter the state park, and reservations can be made up to 30 days before your arrival; it might seem like a hassle, but it’s oh-so worthwhile.

Also known as the USS Arizona Memorial, this floating shrine is only accessible by boat and sits directly over the sunken warship. The resting place of 1077 crewmembers whose names are enshrined on the memorial, here you can see parts of the craft still jutting out of the water.

This breath-taking vantage point offers unrivalled views of the Koolau Cliffs and Windward Coast. Nestled among mountain peaks at over a thousand feet high, visitors can take in the scenery of the lookout for free before carrying on to the town or coast.

This beautifully restored palace is a key part of Hawaii’s identity. Built in 1882, this restored landmark features original artefacts including furniture, accessories and photographs. Visitors can tour the palace, gallery and grounds self guided or with a guide.

Located at the Wailua River, Fern Grotto is a beautiful lava rock grotto. Visitors can take river boat tours to explore this destination, known as the most romantic spot on Kauai, and hear songs and tales surrounding Hawaii.

A breathtakingly beautiful crescent of sandy beach with a protected cove perfect for swimming and watersports, Kalapaki Beach is idyllic – and the ideal spot to soak up the sunshine when visiting Nawiliwili in Kauai. Just a stone’s throw from the cruise port, and a short distance from a variety of bars and restaurants, you won’t have to travel far to enjoy this particular beach – or everything else Nawiliwili has to offer.

If you’re a fan of classic movies, or dinosaurs, then this is a must-visit location while visiting Nawiliwili; located in the Waikoko Forest, near the mysterious ‘Blue Hole’, the Jurassic Park Gate is the site where the iconic gates to Jurassic Park were constructed for filming. It’s not the easiest place to get to, so it’s worth trying to arrange a guide if you can – or planning ahead if you’re opting to venture to this site yourself. You can find detailed instructions online, thankfully. When you get here, you’ll be met with an impressive view – the same view – of the stunning jungle landscape. What remains of the gate itself, though, are two concrete support structures.

Blunts Point Battery is a fascinating site to visit when in Pago Pago, and it tells an interesting story, despite never really being used. Located on Matautu Ridge, just a stone’s throw from Pago Pago, Blunts Point Battery was built as part of the island-wide fortifications developed following the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. It’s a rare example of an American Second World War Pacific coastal gun in near-pristine condition, as American Samoa was never actually attacked during the war. However, as one of the only American military bases in the western Pacific, Pago Pago and American Samoa played a pivotal role in the Second World War. While both Blunts Point Battery and further fortifications built into the hillside beneath it are open to the public, the hiking trail to reach these sites is something to consider if you’re wanting to visit. It might sound like a lot of effort, but that effort is worthwhile – if anything, just to see the stunning views from the battery itself.

Rainmaker Mountain is truly a sight to behold, and something you can’t miss when visiting Pago Pago. Also known as Mount Pioa or Mount Peiva, Rainmaker Mountain boasts a three-pronged summit and finds itself directly responsible for the increased rainfall the region enjoys throughout the year. Home to numerous rare species of animal and plant, the mountain is also an important part of Samoan folklore, with Rainmaker Mountain a once-angry brother who now stands brooding – with rainclouds around his head – across Tutuila Island from Matafao Peak – the other brother, and another breathtaking mountain you can see when visiting Pago Pago.

A fascinating museum dedicated to the culture and history of American Samoa, the Jean P. Haydon Museum boasts an incredible collection of authentic canoes, coconut-shell combs, native pharmacopoeia, and more. It’s even home to a naval cannon from HHMS Kaimiloa, the only warship in the fleet of King Kalakaua of Hawaii. The exhibits you’ll find here focus on everything from the natural history of the region and kava bowls to traditional tattooing and historic war clubs. If you’re looking to learn more about American Samoa and its people, this is a must-visit destination in Pago Pago.

Established in 1872, the Colo-i-Suva Forest Park is part of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy – a network of forest conservation programmes developed in 2015 to help protect the natural landscape of Commonwealth countries – and a stunningly beautiful palace to visit when in Suva. Home to a variety of hiking trails, the opportunity to swim, and plenty of birds to spot with your binoculars, everyone can enjoy spending some time here. Among the native flora here, of which there is a lot to admire, you’ll also find some African Mahogany, which was planted here throughout the 1940s and 1950s.

A rather recent addition to the architecture of Suva, having only been completed in 2000, the Suva Fiji Temple is a remarkable temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the first of its kind to be built in Fiji. Designed with traditional designs and styles in mind, it’s located at one of the highest points in the city and features a 72-foot tall spire. With subtle nods to the local culture alongside the broader symbolism utilised by the Church, it’s a sight worth seeing and stands out against much of Suva’s other architecture.

Sitting in the heart of Suva’s Thurston Gardens, stunning botanical gardens worth visiting in their own right, the Fiji Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in learning more about Fiji and Fijian culture. It’s home to the most important collection of Fijian artefacts in the world, with exhibitions showing off a variety of items of historic importance – from authentic canoes and objects related to cannibalism, to contemporary artwork and more.

If you fancy stretching your legs when you arrive, a short hike up to the inland peak on Dravuni Island is always a good idea. You’ll be able to get here along a fairly easy hiking trail, and you’ll be met with fantastic views of the island when you arrive. It’s also a great spot to grab a picture of your cruise ship, which you should have no trouble seeing.

If sun lounging isn’t something you want to spend the whole time doing, you can actually snorkel straight from the island’s beaches. With the island being within the Great Astrolabe Reef, which is the world’s fourth-largest coral reef, you won’t have to swim very far at all to find some stunning marine life. A rocky outcrop right by the island’s wharf is home to some of the most easily-accessible coral, making this almost too easy to enjoy.

If you’re looking for an authentic Fijian experience, it doesn’t get more authentic than the village on Dravuni Island. Here, you’ll be able to observe village life and learn more about the culture here from the friendly locals. You’ll also find the University of the South Pacific research station here, which is used to study the local marine life. While you will have to be mindful of the village’s customs, spending some time here is always special.

Showcasing the part played by Australian and British troops during the second world war, this tranquil memorial park makes for a solemn visit during your time in the Milne Bay Province.

Featuring a few different exhibitions; one representing the 1942 Battle of Milne Bay and the other the history of the Samari, these displays which include historic objects, paintings and more make it a fascinating attraction in the city.

Another commemoration of the Battle of Milne Bay, the Milne Bay Memorial is a poignant memorial that’s surrounded by the harbour. A captivating display, it’s easy to reach from the port area and will immerse you into the rich history of the area.

Take to the sky on the incredible Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Spanning 7.5 kilometres, it takes you high above the picturesque Gorge National Park within Queensland’s iconic World Heritage Area; the Wet Tropics Rainforest, that’s also known as the oldest tropical rainforest in the world. Taking around 1.5 hours to reach Kuranda, along the way you can stop off in two areas to explore the forest.

One of the most iconic railways in the world, the Kuranda Railway takes you from Cairns to Kuranda along a heritage listed line. Built in 1891, it offers breathtaking views over the Barron Falls, alongside several towns. Taking just under 2 hours, this 37 kilometre journey is simply magical.

Alternatively you could head to Cairns Aquarium, that’s situated in the heart of the city. Recently opened, there are over 15,000 different animals throughout the zoo, 71 tanks and 3 different levels to explore.

Take to the water for a thrilling ride on a jet ski across Airlie Beach. A popular activity to do whilst visiting the destination, it’s fun regardless of your age!

Relax and unwind at the beautiful Boathaven Beach. A stretch of white sand with lots of swimming zones, the beach is popular with both tourists and locals alike that are looking for a tranquil activity to enjoy during their time in Airlie Beach.

Within easy reach of Airlie Beach, Conway National Park is situated less than 950 km from Brisbane. Boasting tropical rainforest and plenty of different flora and fauna, the national park makes for a wonderful day out.

Spanning 18 hectares, the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary was founded in 1927. The largest and oldest of its kind, there are over 80 different species that call it their home. A tranquil attraction within easy reach of the city centre, it makes for a fun day out.

Situated at the heart of the city, the Brisbane Botanical Gardens are surrounded by skyscrapers and provide a welcome break from the hustle and bustle. Top highlights within the gardens include the ornamental ponds and bamboo grove.

Located in the Queensland Cultural Centre on Kurilpa Point next to the popular Queensland Art Gallery, the modern art gallery is the largest of its kind in Australia. Within it, amongst an array of exhibits and collections, there is a cinematheque.

An iconic attraction in Sydney, the Sydney Opera House is home to a variety of performances throughout the year and features unique 20th century architecture. Located on Sydney Harbour, this extraordinary building is well worth a visit to, whether you’re looking to watch a performance there or to simply explore it.

A popular attraction in Sydney is the picturesque Royal Botanic Garden. Spanning 30 hectares on Sydney Harbour, it has a wide array of plant life and boasts incredible views of the Sydney Opera House and the city's wide array of skyscrapers. Alternatively, you could reach for the sky at the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Constructed out of steel, this prominent bridge connects the central business district to the North Shore. What’s so incredible about the ‘coat hanger’ bridge, is that you can climb it and take in breathtaking views of the city and harbour!

Situated in the heart of the city, the Sky Tower is the tallest building in New Zealand. In the Central Business District, this popular attraction stands an impressive 328m tall. An icon of the skyline, you can take in breathtaking views from the top of it.

Spanning over 16 hectares, the Auckland Zoo is also located in the centre of the city. Over 100 years old, it’s home to 2,800 animals and over 130 different species. Auckland Botanic Gardens spans an impressive 156 acres, including 10 hectares of forest. Opened in 1982, it attracts over 1 million visitors each year due to its vast plant life. A beautiful attraction, this historic botanic garden is located in Manurewa.
