Nicknamed the “End of the World”, Ushuaia is a charming windswept city on the southernmost tip of South America and an important port of call for cruise adventures to Antarctica. In the heart of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, this port is surrounded by some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world, boasting sensational sightseeing opportunities for everyone who travels here. From vibrant coastal forests and dramatic waterfalls to stunning glaciers and unique polar wildlife, Ushuaia really is somewhere where you’ll be able to bask in the sheer beauty of nature, and soak up some sensational panoramic views from the vantage points found here. This city, though, while being famous for being (arguably) the most southernmost city in the entire world, is also something of a gateway to Antarctica and the smaller islands that make up the Tierra del Fuego archipelago. So, despite being rather quaint in comparison to other Argentinian cities and South American holiday hotspots, what you’re met with in Ushuaia is just a taste of what’s to come – if you’re continuing onto Antarctica, anyway. That doesn’t mean you should be too eager to leave Ushuaia, though, as this port of call does offer a lot more than just breathtaking natural beauty. Ushuaia is also home to a unique collection of museums and some fantastic food; so, while the awe-inspiring natural beauty of the region is a major highlight, this is one destination that will prove to be just as memorable as everything else on your itinerary.
Day 13
Cape Horn (Sail By)
4 Feb 2028
Arrives at: 6 am, Departs at: 8 am (2 hours in port)
Scenic Cruising
Black-Browed Albatross Sightings
Southern Rockhopper Penguin Spotting
Widely believed to be the most southerly point of South America for a long time, and a destination marking the meeting point of the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean, Cape Horn is a stunning headland on Hornos Island – one of the larger landmasses in the Tierra del Fuego archipelago – known for unusual rock formations, tumultuous weather, and its significant role in maritime trading from the 1700s to the early 20th century. Initially discovered by Spanish explorers in 1526, and eventually first fully rounded by Dutch navigators for the East India Company in 1616, who then named this destination Kaap Hoorn, after Hoorn in the Netherlands, Cape Horn is a rocky outlet steeped in maritime history. Navigating around Cape Horn was once a dangerous feat, with rough waters and intense winds making this trade route a valuable one – when navigated successfully, anyway. Rendered largely obsolete as a trade route by the Panama Canal, Cape Horn now represents a breathtaking scenic cruising experience you can enjoy without worrying about the treacherous sailing conditions.
Day 14
Paradise Bay
5 Feb 2028
Scenic Cruising
Wildlife Spotting
Antarctica
Paradise Bay is a highlight of the Antarctic Peninsula, famous for its glassy waters that create near-perfect reflections of the surrounding glaciers. It provides a rare opportunity to admire some of the world's most dramatic coastlines and fascinating wildlife in their unspoilt natural habitat. Whether you are searching for penguins on the stunning ice shelf or watching for whales from the deck of a ship, the bay offers a quiet, majestic view of the frozen wilderness.
Schollaert Channel
5 Feb 2028
Scenic Cruising
The Schollaert Channel is a dramatic, glacier-lined polar waterway located in the Palmer Archipelago of the Antarctic Peninsula. This remote passage separates Anvers and Brabant islands, linking Dallmann Bay to the Gerlache Strait. Discovered in 1898 during Adrien de Gerlache's Belgian expedition, it was named after Belgian statesman Frans Schollaert. Today, it is a highlight for expedition cruises. Because there are no shore landings, visitors enjoy scenic cruising past calving glaciers, towering snow-capped peaks like Mount Parry, and pristine wildlife habitats filled with whales, seals, and penguins.
Day 15
Elephant Island, Antarctica
6 Feb 2028
Spot Elephant Seals
Search for Macaroni Penguins
Scenic Cruising
Elephant Island is one of the most legendary sites in polar history, famously serving as the desperate sanctuary for Sir Ernest Shackleton’s crew during the ill-fated Endurance expedition. As your ship approaches the jagged, mist-shrouded peaks of Point Wild, the sheer isolation of the black volcanic cliffs and crashing Antarctic surf brings the crew's four-month struggle for survival into sharp focus. The sight of thousands of chinstrap penguins and sprawling elephant seals against a backdrop of massive, calving glaciers is unforgettable, and it remains a hauntingly beautiful monument to human resilience, standing lonely and defiant amidst the wild reaches of the Southern Ocean.
Also known as Stanley, Port Stanley is the capital city of the Falkland Islands and a charming destination to visit during cruises through the South Atlantic Ocean and beyond. Home to roughly 70% of the Falkland Islands’ population, Port Stanley is the place to be if you’re looking to immerse yourself in this archipelago’s unique culture. Without an indigenous population, you’ll find that much of the culture and cuisine in Port Stanley is an amalgamation of British culture and cuisine, with influences from nearby nations, such as Argentina. So, Port Stanley is often described as feeling somewhat similar to a small English or Scottish town – a home away from home, of sorts. However, although exploring the quaint city centre is a fantastic way to spend your time, Port Stanley is also a great starting point for adventures further inland and along the coast. With the chance to enjoy guided nature walks, wildlife spotting, and experiences that invite you to explore this island’s tumultuous history, there’s something for everyone to enjoy here – whether you’re looking to sit and enjoy a freshly-poured pint in one of the local pubs, spot some penguins in their natural habitat, or admire the stunning landscapes found here.
Located on the north-eastern bank of the Rio de la Plata, Montevideo is the capital city of Uruguay and a modern metropolis with a difference. Boasting stunning European art deco-style architecture, a hangover from this region’s colonial past, Montevideo is home to an expansive beach promenade and a South American atmosphere to match. Here, you’ll find the Rambla, a riverfront avenue that’s one of the world’s longest continuous sidewalks – which just highlights how perfect Montevideo is if you’re looking to take a laid-back wander here. Beyond this, though, if you’re looking for a little more action, you’ll find a bustling marketplace in Mercado del Puerto, intriguing exhibitions in the Andes Museum and Museo El Juguetero (just two of the several incredible museums and galleries in Montevideo), and fantastic food everywhere you turn. With all the modern comforts of a capital city, but a relaxed atmosphere that lets you savour the little things, a visit to this metropolis is worth looking forward to.

Like all of our Celebrity cruises this one was excellent from start to finish. There is always something for everyone re entertainment and dining and they went out of their way to provide assistance for my wife who ahs severe mobility issues. My only complaint I have is all the extra charges should you want to dine in the speciality restaurants as they were a bit to pricey for our budget.

Itinerary was amazing.
Staff on board couldn’t do enough for you.
Cleaning the ship is an ongoing and daily process and encouraging to see, including handrails throughout the ship.
Ship is showing its age and looking tired.
Downside for us was the variety and quality of the food in the main silhouette restaurant for the evening meals with food rarely hot and lack of variety and choice.

With so much to see, this is easily the best place to visit if you’re looking to switch off and embrace the great outdoors.

Found in parts of the National Bank building and Old Government House, these impressive buildings only serve to highlight the importance of the museum and its contents.
Museo de la Ciudad
Also known as Casa Pena, this former private residence has served as the City Museum in Ushuaia since 2009; with an interesting selection of informative exhibits and historic items, this museum offers visitors a fantastic insight into what ordinary life was like in this city throughout the 20th century – which is when it was originally occupied by the Pena family.

A highlight among the seabirds you can see when sailing around Cape Horn, black-browed albatrosses are among the most populous of its family – but no less impressive to see while at sea. With a wingspan of 200 cm to 240 cm and a natural lifespan of over 70 years, these bright white seabirds have a dark eyestripe and broad black edging to the underside of their wings.
Southern Rockhopper Penguin Spotting
A vulnerable penguin species often found in subantarctic waters like those surrounding Cape Horn, these are among the smallest species of its family; with breeding colonies around Cape Horn, you may spot some of these incredible animals during your sailing. They’re known for their bright yellow eyebrows, ending in long yellow plumes, and red eyes.

Description
Paradise Bay is a highlight of the Antarctic Peninsula, famous for its glassy waters that create near-perfect reflections of the surrounding glaciers. It provides a rare opportunity to admire some of the world's most dramatic coastlines and fascinating wildlife in their unspoilt natural habitat. Whether you are searching for penguins on the stunning ice shelf or watching for whales from the deck of a ship, the bay offers a quiet, majestic view of the frozen wilderness.
This stage of your adventure is a scenic cruising experience, meaning you won't be able to disembark at this destination. However, that doesn't mean you'll miss out on any sensational sightseeing; your cruise ship is the perfect place to sit and unwind while admiring the dramatic coastlines and sensational wildlife of the world around you.
Wildlife Spotting
Wildlife spotting in Paradise Bay is a premier Antarctic experience, as the calm, nutrient rich harbor acts as a natural magnet for the continent's most famous residents. You’ll often see humpback whales surfacing in the mirror like water, while crabeater seals lounge on floating ice cakes scattered across the bay. The rocky shorelines are home to bustling Gentoo penguin colonies, and the surrounding cliffs are filled with nesting Antarctic terns and blue eyed shags. Whether you’re on a Zodiac or the ship's deck, the bay offers an intimate, front row seat to the daily lives of these polar animals in a stunningly silent setting.
Antarctica
The highest and driest continent on Earth, Antarctica is a fascinating destination; it's home to over 90% of the world's ice, making it the coldest place on the planet. Interestingly, Antarctica is one huge ice sheet atop a rocky continent, and if all the ice were to melt, the world's sea levels would rise by roughly 60 metres! Here, you'll find an incredible selection of species to admire alongside dramatic coastlines, including seals and penguins, with whale-watching also a popular part of these remarkable adventures.

Description

Description
Seeing Elephant Seals on the island is a highlight because they are the largest seals in the world. You’ll usually find them resting in big groups on rocky beaches, looking like giant boulders against the ice. They are easy to recognise by their massive size and the males' long, trunk like noses. Watching them is quite an experience you can hear their loud, deep roars from a distance and see them clumsily "galumphing" across the stones to get to the water.
Search for Macaroni Penguins
Finding Macaroni penguins on Elephant Island is like a treasure hunt because they are much rarer than the other penguins there. These birds are easy to spot once you find them because of the bright yellow-orange feathers on their heads that look like bushy eyebrows. Since they like to nest on high, steep cliffs, you usually look for them from a small boat while scanning the rocky shoreline. Seeing a splash of gold against the black rocks is a major win for any wildlife fan.

Time at Port: from 8 AM to 5 PM (day Day 17)
Description
Located in the historic dockyard of Port Stanley, the Falkland Islands Museum boasts a comprehensive collection of artefacts and historic items that explore the natural and cultural history of this archipelago. If you want to know more about the Falkland Islands, this is one of the best places in the world to spend some time. You’ll also find an interactive room that explores the stories of Falkland Islands residents during the Falklands War in 1982, highlighting the real impact of this conflict, as well as an area dedicated to the region’s maritime history.
Government House
Built in 1845, Government House is the home of the Falkland Islands’ governors and one of the most important landmarks in Port Stanley. Alongside being somewhere where Ernest Shackleton stayed during his famous Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition in the 1910s, and home to one of the world’s southernmost grape vines, Government House was also the site of a major battle during the 1982 invasion of the Falkland Islands, an event that kicked off the Falklands War, and where the surrender was ultimately issued.
Yorke Bay
Roughly four miles northeast of Port Stanley, Yorke Bay is a stunning destination to visit when spending some time in the Falkland Islands’ capital. Known internationally as a breeding ground for Magellanic penguins, a threatened species also found along the coast of Argentina and Chile, this is a fantastic place to see these incredible birds in their natural habitat. Interestingly, much of this area serves as an unplanned wildlife refuge, with Yorke Bay among several areas of coastline that were heavily mined during the Falklands War, making them unsafe for visitors. The island is free of landmines now, though, and you’ll be able to observe the wildlife and admire the stunning scenery of Yorke Bay from a safe distance.

Description
A monumental example of neo-classical architecture in the heart of Montevideo, the Legislative Palace of Uruguay acts as the meeting place of the General Assembly of Uruguay, the seat of the legislative branch of the Uruguayan government, and a remarkable landmark to see when you visit. Built between 1904 and 1925, it was constructed to commemorate 100 years of Uruguayan independence.
Obelisk of Montevideo
Built in 1930 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Constitution of Uruguay as a homage to the original members of the General Assembly, this three-sided structure stretches 40 metres up and is flanked by three bronze structures representing Law, Liberty, and Force. In 1983, it was the site of Rio de Libertad – the nation’s largest demonstration ever, demanding an end to the civil-military dictatorship in place at the time.
Palacio Salvo
Standing 95 metres tall, this stunning structure takes advantage of eclectic architectural designs to deliver one of the most remarkable buildings in Montevideo. Built with the intention of being a hotel in 1928, it’s now a mixture of private residences and office spaces – though tours of the building are available at select times during the day.
