Iglu Cruise customer reviews for Britannia
Apparently it's just had a revamp so I can't imagine how it looked before. But it looks like a couple of things had been missed. My shower had bad stains which looked like grim (big black marks), there were buckets in the corridor to catch water dripping from the ceiling, the balcony glass was dirty/marked even after they washed it. The lifts missed floors and sometimes suddenly dropped which was scary. In the horizon restaurant the air-conditioning leaked drops of water and landed on your plate or head. I can not believe they only have two washing machines, two dryers and two ironing boards in the laundry room. The staff looked somber as though they didn't want to be there. Even though some wore Christmas hats they looked miserable. Christmas on this ship was a real let down. Has put me off going on another cruise for Christmas. Much rather stay home for Christmas this year
Second time on Britannia and not over impressed. The ship looks tired in certain areas. The staff were wonderful in the main. Our cabin steward was friendly and efficient however there seemed to be a lack of staff in the common areas, with glasses mounting up on tables and dishes piled up in the buffet. We were told that many had been quarantined due to a flu outbreak and that may be the reason. Bar service was quick and friendly and the main restaurants were OK but service was slow. We went to Sindhu which was so dark we had to use a torch to read the menu. The food was no more than average. The outside areas on deck 7 are awful. OK this is a smoking area however it is very seldom cleaned, with tables laden with used glasses and cups and ashtrays overflowing. The sun decks were overcrowded on sea days and the policy of not reserving sunbeds is ignored. Towels on pretty much every one by 9am with very few people using them. Overall though we had a good time with great ports of call. P&O offer good value however standards have slipped since I last cruised with them.
I had a great holiday but feel that some things have slipped. Cabin cleaning poor compared to normal. All staff friendly.
Flight to Barbados great. Transfer to Ship was good. Cruise was very good. Been on P&O ships before all good. Went on several P&O trips, beaches excelent. Couple of local Buses / coach was not good - dropped of inbetween Scrap yard and graveyard - then walk to beach. Then driver never returned - had to take taxi to ship.
