Our first Cruise with Azamara was in 2012, since then standards have dropped. We have just returned from a Baltic cruise on the Journey and we were both disappointed. There seems to be less crew in public areas, less choice of drinks on complimentary list and a lot small issues that add up. The Ship must be due a refit.

This a review of two halves. The crew and itinerary were the tops, loved the journey, the cities we visited (maybe Gibraltar not so much) and enjoyed the laidback vibe. However the ship is very tired (shocking that the pool towels and so many sunbeds are stained and unsightly); dreadful and very worrying that in the heat the pool deck was SO hot it actually burnt your feet - one woman told me her feet had blistered. Finally so very disappointed with the state of our cabin and it nagged more every day… from the dripping tap to the rusty balcony, the scratched fittings, the damaged veneer to the furniture, the mirror in the main cabin misting, the wallpaper lifting off the walls and tatty broken woven chairs on the balcony. It was cleaned properly every day but was definitely the cabin that time and Azamara forgot. Sharpen up your act guys, I heard lots of similar grumbles on this trip…

Tired and dated ship, bland food, gym equipment that was faulty and time expired (don't forget to bring your ipod!!). Premium dining is again average, wi-fi is not included etc etc It is marketed as a premium line giving a high end small ship experience - It is not. Just spin unfortunately. Additionally as expected they go for the upsell whilst you are onboard so suggest you also give that a miss For example we organised our own tours locally as the excursions offered by Azamara were 60-80% more.

A small ship with lots of dark wood. Sparkling clean everywhere and the dining room and speciality restaurants are all excellent. The buffet evening’white night’ on the pool deck was great fun Luckily we were treated to an evening concert in st. Michael’s cave in Gibraltar. Absolutely stunning Cruising up river to Seville was another highlight Not suitable for children
