Very enjoyable cruise on Ambition. Food , staff and entertainment excellent. Cabin was awkward with 2 unused bunk beds . Second show was too late at 22. 15, 21. 45 would have been better. Otherwise excellent service.

Many good points particularly the show team, Theatre at Sea and overall cleanliness of the ship. Food was uninspiring but seemed to suit most passengers. The range of drinks is surprisingly limited. In lots of ways it felt rather like cruising 20 years ago! Disembarkation at Bristol was chaotic, we certainly wouldn't choose to sail from Bristol again

The ship and the crew are well organised and welcoming. On our trip to France, Portugal and Spain the mix of sea days and shore days was perfect for us. Among the crew Hari, Denzil and Arul were excellent. Our head waiter in the Holyrood and his assistant Jonny were especially attentive while Tom on the entertainment’s team was stellar. We wish them all well in their future careers. Food was plentiful and varied. During the cruise we had cause to worry about the stability of the ‘tub’ seats in The Clifton. Within a few days we saw two passengers tip the seat over backwards as they landed rather heavily and destabilised the chair. We had a near miss too - my husband misjudged the position of the back of the seat and it tipped precariously. Otherwise - please keep doing what you are doing!

If you enjoy good food, good entertainment and good friendly service with none of the bells & whistles this is the ship for you. If your not worried about any of these use P&O. Ambition is an older ship but in good condition so don’t be put off by that. To many good things to mention but in 30 years of cruising it’s one of the best

Enjoyable cruise. I booked this cruise because of the destination not because of the ship or cruise company. The passenger profile was much older than on cruises with other companies I’ve sailed with and the onboard activities and facilities reflected this. Service from the crew was excellent, very friendly and caring. Embarkation and disembarkation was fast, efficient and faultless, well done Ambassador. The ship is older, dated in places but very clean, comfortable with lots of places to sit, it never felt crowded other than the buffet at peak times. I really enjoyed my holiday and it represented good value for money. This was an ‘old school’, traditional cruise and ideal for those people who reminisce about how cruising used to be - then this is the cruise line for you. If you’re looking for the most modern ships with lots of up to date facilities, freedom dining, fancy venues then Ambassador wouldn’t be for you. Ambassador target and understand their market very well, providing traditional cruising from local UK ports to an older passenger profile. They cater particularly well to solo travellers, both from a price and service perspective. Would I recommend Ambassador? Yes, but only to those people looking for this type of cruise. The majority of my friends and family would not like this cruise line as they are looking for newer ships offering a different experience. Would I book again? Yes. And I already have! I’m cruising with Ambassador again next year as the itinerary is unique- visiting smaller ports and is great value. This time n Ambition. Summary of pros and cons. Let’s start with the cons. No freedom dining. ( I’m not a fan of fixed dining and ended up using the buffet for dinner more than any other cruise I’ve sailed on previously. ) Pools not in service or not heated during the cruise. . Small buffet which was very busy during peak times. Food choice limited in range. Limited facilities as it’s an older ship. Lots of ship rolling and movement and vibration/ noise. App was a bit cumbersome Pros Staff are incredible, very friendly and helpful, the looked after customers very well, assisting mobility impaired customers proactively. Staff also very well presented and smart - loved the uniforms of the buffet staff with aprons and flat caps! Great WiFi Good entertainment from the show team with traditional show productions and unique plays which I loved. Good communication throughout the cruise about events. Food, whilst limited in range was excellent quality. Aimed at traditional British tastes. Reasonable drinks prices. Excellent staff to passenger ratio, always staff on hand providing drinks service and quick and efficient table clearing in the buffet . The best I’ve experienced on any cruise! Good solo passenger facilities, meet and greet meetings, dining arrangements etc

Great food, excellent staff, fabulous sauna and gym on Ambition. The band Eternal Valentine are one of the best bands I have listened to in all my year cruising.
