Iglu Cruise customer reviews for Ambience
First time for us to embark at Tilbury and all went well. Far less busy and frantic than Southampton but well organised nonetheless. Ambience is an older , smaller ship but the communal areas around the ship are well cared for clean. We were assured on booking we could have a table for 4 (there were 3 of us dining ) but when we arrived at the dining room,we were out on a table of 6. This alone would stop me using Ambience again! Obviously the people we had to share with felt the same as we didn't see them again after the first night, we just ate at a very unbalanced table but we're afraid toove in case our sharers turned up! Service was always speedy in the dining room, too speedy on times with my husband's plate being whipped away while his fork was still in his mouth but in Borough Market tables were always cleared promptly. Food could be a bit hit and miss but on the whole good to very good quality. Since this was a weekend break we decided to try an inside cabin, plenty of storage and space was o. k but the air con was a real issue ,not just for us but many on the cruise, another reason I would think twice before using Ambassador again. If you were expecting pillow chocolate and towel animals you don't get them on inside cabins , which made us feel like second class citizens. All in all I might cruise with Ambassador again but only if the price was really good for a balcony cabin and they reviewed their policy for table sharing.
We went on a mini cruise to Honfleur from Tilbury, we have been on this ship before. The parking, check in and boarding is an easy and pleasant experience. The staff and organisation is excellent. We had an ocean view cabin on deck 6 midship. The cabin was clean and had comfortable beds. The air con however just seemed to be on cold all the time! The food was good but not as good as previous trips. Honfleur was amazing, time spent is tight obviously on a short trip but worked out well. The first show at night was a good effort but the singing let it down slightly. We attended a daytime lecture which was horrendous, very inappropriate. We always find it difficult to get a seat in any of the bars if you are in the later dinner slot, and many people sit in the corridors, not for me. The drinks are good value for a cruise ship but don't expect the best quality. A Mimosa, tasted exactly the same as a Bellini. Service in the bars and restaurants varied between surly and really friendly. Despite these minor issues there is something about this ship you will love, and you will have great time, so book it!
Lovely holiday, only complaint was the air conditioning,at the beginning of the cruise the cabin was very cold, after 24hours the problem was rectified. During the second week we experienced a continual noise/slight banging from the air-conditioning unit again after complaining the problem was rectified.
