Things to do
Yeosu Maritime Cable Car
The Yeosu Maritime Cable Car is South Korea's first cable car to travel across the sea, connecting Dolsan Park on the island to Jasan Park on the mainland. It offers a thrilling ride high above the water, providing panoramic views of the Geobukseon Bridge, the bustling harbour, and the many surrounding islands. For an extra thrill, visitors can choose the "crystal cabins" which feature transparent glass floors for a bird's-eye view of the ocean waves below.
Hyangiram Hermitage
Hyangiram Hermitage is a stunning cliffside temple on Dolsan Island, famous for its incredible sunrise views over the ocean. Its name means hermitage facing the sun, and reaching it involves walking through narrow, natural rock passages. Surrounded by camellia trees and rocks that look like turtle shells, it is considered one of the most beautiful and spiritual spots in Yeosu.
Odongdo Island
Odongdo Island is one of Yeosu's most beloved natural landmarks, reachable via a scenic sea wall walk or a colourful "camellia train." The island is famous for its dense forest of over 3,000 camellia trees that bloom vividly from winter through spring. Scenic wooden boardwalks lead visitors through lush greenery to various highlights, including a white lighthouse, unique rock formations like the Dragon Cave, and a musical fountain. It is a peaceful escape that offers stunning views of the surrounding archipelago and the blue waters of the South Sea.
