Eastern and Western Caribbean cruise from Fort Lauderdale, 14 March 2027 (14 nights)

The ship is a lovely ship the food is fantastic lots of choice for most people. However in the main dining room of the evening the vegetarian menu is very limited especially if you are not keen on pasta! We have cruised MANY times before and this is the first cruise that in two weeks of being onboard we were not once approached by a member of staff and asked if we would like a drink other than when we were in the eatery! If you are on deck or inside for that matter do not expect a waiter to be walking around and asking if yo would like a drink! Because I have just found out you have to pay $15 dollars to activate the delivery service on your app and then apparently you can get one delivered! Not sure how long that would take! The entertainment for the first week was very good but then the second week they repeated the same shows and guest shows again! So fine if you are on for a week but if like us two weeks you have no evening entertainment on week two that was extremely poor! Make sure you take something warm to wear in the ship inside most of the time it is freezing! The Princess arena people had blankets wrapped around them it was that cold in there ridiculous! Staff didn’t want to know when I complained about it! The staff onboard work extremely hard and are very friendly but I just think they are now given too much to do. Since my last cruise with Princess I think they are now standard has dropped dramatically in all areas. Dress code for dinner might as well not bother even the staff don’t bother on formal nights like they used to. If the patter didn’t tell you it was formal nights and the photographers weren’t in your face trying to sell you photos you wouldn’t know it was formal nights. Cruising has changed and in my opinion certainly NOT for the better. Princess excursion and spa prices are just stupid money my advice do your own excursions much cheaper.

The Sun Princess is a very big ship but it has so many excellent venues for entertainment and dining, so many that I didn’t get to visit some. The vibe on board was great, both from the excellent friendly and efficient staff and between the guests on board who were from many countries far and wide and generally the ship does not feel overcrowded, except in the buffets which is common on any cruise ship. My cabin, a Cove Balcony on Deck, was excellent, kept spotlessly clean by my wonderful Room Stewardess, Mary. I have only one negative comment and that is the layout of the ship can be challenging in that, for example, to get to the lovely Wake Pool and bar on Deck 8, you have to go to Deck 9 and walk through the three buffet venues (International Cafe, The Eatery and the American Diner) before finding the glass lift to descend to Deck 8 aft, which can be a little frustrating when heaving with hungry passengers. To summarise, I had a fabulous cruise and would highly recommend the Sun Princess.

We had a fantastic cruise on Sun Princess and couldn’t fault the experience from start to finish. Sailing back to back from Fort Lauderdale, the itinerary was wonderful and offered a perfect mix of relaxation, culture, and stunning scenery. Our ports of call included Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman, each with its own unique charm—beautiful beaches, clear turquoise water, and plenty to explore. After returning briefly to Fort Lauderdale, the cruise continued to Princess Cays, which was an absolute highlight: pristine beaches, crystal-clear sea, and that effortless private-island luxury. We then visited San Juan and St. Thomas, both vibrant, colourful, and rich in history, with excellent shopping. The Sun Princess itself is an amazing ship—modern, elegant, and immaculately maintained. The public spaces are stunning, the cabins comfortable. We did the Princess Premier package which suited us really well, enabling us to sample the speciality dining in all but one of the speciality restaurants onboard. Dining options were excellent with great variety and consistently high quality, and the service from the crew was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Entertainment, amenities, and onboard activities were all top-notch, making sea days just as enjoyable as port days. Overall, this was a brilliant cruise and an unforgettable trip. A wonderful itinerary paired with a beautiful ship and exceptional service—highly recommended, and we wouldn’t hesitate to sail on Sun Princess again. 🚢✨
