Transfers
Transfers (where applicable) are shared
Dietary Restrictions
As a culturally immersive tour where traditional dining experiences and local entertainment feature throughout, you will be provided with local Chinese/Tibetan cuisine for the duration of this tour; this may not accommodate some dietary restrictions or personal tastes.
Accessibility
During this tour, you will be sightseeing on foot for extended periods of time and engaging in activities where a normal amount of mobility is necessary (such as climbing steps, embarking and disembarking boats, and standing in queues). Due to this, this experience may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues and guests who are fully dependent on wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
So, it’s strongly recommended that you consider this detail before you book, as guests who are unable to walk unaided, unable to stand in queues for extended periods of time, unable to climb steps, and unable to walk for long periods of time, will not be suited to the experiences on this tour. Please speak to one of our dedicated travel consultants before confirming a booking.
High altitude information
This tour visits Lhasa, situated at 3,650 metres (12,000 feet) above sea level. Because oxygen levels are lower at this elevation, your body may take a day or two to acclimatise. While most people adjust quickly, altitude sickness is a possibility, often presenting as a headache, nausea or fatigue. If you have a history of heart, lung or respiratory conditions, please consult your doctor before booking.
Travel insurance
Please check that your travel insurance policy covers high-altitude travel and medical evacuation. Many standard policies only cover up to 2,500 or 3,000 metres. We recommend ensuring your cover is adequate for this itinerary.
Gratuities & Local Customs
- In China, tipping is customary and the suggested amount is roughly $7 per person per day
Luggage & Baggage
On this tour, guests are only permitted to take one bag per person; this is due to the fact that the bullet train and transfers will not accommodate more luggage per person. The luggage allowances in place mean guests will only be able to take luggage that is 20kg or less free of charge; anything above that weight will incur an additional charge.
Insurance
If you choose to travel, it’s important that you get appropriate travel insurance for your itinerary, planned activities, and any medical expenses you may require in an emergency.
