Decision Passage is a critical maritime gateway located at the western edge of the Sumner Strait in Southeast Alaska. It marks the transition where the calm, sheltered waters of the Inside Passage meet the unpredictable currents of the open Pacific Ocean. Guarded by the historic Cape Decision Lighthouse, this rugged corridor is a prime spot for scenic cruising, offering travelers the chance to witness dramatic wilderness and abundant marine life, including humpback whales and sea otters, against a backdrop of dense temperate rainforests.
Formerly Novo-Arkhangelsk, Sitka has a more a Russian feel than other Alaskan towns with orthodox style buildings and churches. In fact, this was the location where Russia officially sold ‘Russian America’ to the US in 1867 to become what is now the state of Alaska. Sitka also has a deep affinity with the native Tlingit population and preserving culture, nature and history with the Sitka National Historical Park as well as bear and bird sanctuaries.
Petersburg sits on Mitkof Island in Alaska's Inside Passage, founded by Norwegian immigrants who were drawn by its fishing and the nearby LeConte Glacier. Known as 'Little Norway', it charms with its tidy harbour, Scandinavian heritage and fresh seafood. Surrounded by spectacular mountains, glaciers and rich wildlife, it's an authentic slice of Alaska.
Haines has a number of intriguing places of interest to visit during your time there such as the Hammer Museum, Sheldon Museum and Cultural Centre and the American Bald Eagle Foundation. Haines also plays home to the annual Southeast Alaska State Fair in late July.
The Inian Islands are a wild group of islands in Alaska known for their powerful ocean currents. These currents bring in tons of food, attracting huge numbers of animals like Steller sea lions, sea otters, and humpback whales. It is one of the best places to see Alaskan wildlife up close from a boat or kayak.
Founded in 1895, Hubbard Glacier is the largest tidewater glacier located within North America. A popular stop off for cruise ships, it’s situated within the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Named after the first president and founder of the National Geographic Society, Gardiner Hubbard, it’s a breathtaking glacier that’s surrounded by snow capped mountains and icebergs.
Valdez is the largest port town in the Alaskan bay known as Prince William Sound. In the town are two museums, The Valdez Museum and Historical Archive, and the Maxine & Jesse Whitney Museum. Meanwhile nature enthusiasts will be stunned by Keystone Canyon, the Worthington and Columbia glaciers and opportunities to kayak through the bay.

A fantastic cruise aboard a really excellent ship. First class facilities and really good food and entertainment. A more boutique experience than a large ship with only 600 passengers. The food was very, very good and the staff really polite and attentive. A wonderful was to experience the Far East

Seabourn Encore. Immaculate ship; genuinely friendly and unfailingly helpful staff. Every meal was a good dining experience, especially in the Splis restaurant. Entertainment was in the singer/dancer/cabaret ste + virtuoso performances from specialist artists.
Our suite (704) was a decent size albeit without a bath as we discovered . House keeping were excellent.
Vietnam port visits were well organised albeit expensive when booked through Seabourn; plenty of local/private options. Fred shuttle buses into the city centres at every port. Onboard lectures were goid value. Cambodia visit was a bit of a non-event.
We booked through IGLU incl flights, shire accom + transfers. HK accom at Harbourside Kowloon was more of a well licated 3* offering and definitely not 5*. Would not stay there again. Transfers good.
Have booked for another Seabourn cruise, this time directly with Seabourn.

I booked the Seabourn Encore to celebrate our 60th Birthday. It did not disappoint. We had the most amazing time.
The ship was wonderful, an a great size. The staff could not do enough for you. We were made to feel very special while we were there, with all the care and attention.
The entertainment was exceptional and very versatile. There was plenty to do on the ship if you wanted to.
Embarkation was easy and stress free as was disembarkation.
Most wonderful trip.
The ports we stopped in were great apart from Sihoukville in Cambodia. Im sure there are more beautiful places in Cambodia.
Trips were a little expensive, however they were all so well planned an most enjoyable.

Apart from one unexpected issue which, to Seabourn’s credit they sorted quickly, this was a very enjoyable luxury cruise. We ate in the Restaurant every evening except one when we ate in Solis. Food was mainly excellent with a few OK’s.
Our only issue was that the restaurant was not open for breakfast, something that was totally unexpected. First time we had experienced this on any cruise. Fortunately there were a number of guests who felt the same and Seabourn reacted quickly to rectify the situation.

Navigating the Inian Islands is a wild experience where the ocean moves like a fast river. Powerful tides create whirlpools and waves that trap fish, making it a "dinner bell" for animals. Taking a small boat through these rushing currents is the best way to see whales and sea lions feeding in the middle of the action.
Watch the Sea Lion Commotion
The "Sea Lion Commotion" is a loud and lively experience where hundreds of huge Steller sea lions crowd the rocky shores. You can watch them bark, growl, and push each other for the best spots to nap. From a boat, you get a front-row seat to the chaos as 1,000kg bulls guard their space while playful pups splash in the water nearby.
Search for Humpback Whales
Searching for humpback whales here is amazing because the narrow channels trap huge schools of fish. You can often see these giants bursting through the surface to eat or slapping their massive tails on the water. It is a world-class spot to see them feeding up close against the beautiful Alaskan cliffs.

Icebergs
Whilst in Hubbard Glacier, you’ll most likely see ice breaking off the side of it. This is because it’s a calving glacier, which creates icebergs that then float off around the fjord.
