Resilient Lady Reviews
View Cruise DealsWe had a lovely and enjoyable time, great holiday and would recommend. Cabin, staff and ship were amazing. My only beef was the galley, air con so strong, by the time you sat down to eat your food, it was cold plus not enough room the the main restaurants, getting bookings was difficult but persistence does pay off.
Lovely ship, loved being adults only, have been on many cruise ships, Virgin have now come out on top Food, staff, cleanliness of ship & cabins, could not be faulted Loved the variety of restaurants I would have liked a little more variety of evening shows, entertainment, not to say what we saw was very good Everything was well organised, embarking a little slow, disembarking was the best we have experienced Looking into using Virgin again in the near future
The ship is very nice and very clean, cabins were good and well appointed and all crew were helpful and friendly. Ship has a lot of comfortable deck seating as well as sunbeds and there are plenty of quiet places. We liked the social club where people gathered to do jigsaw puzzles or play boardgames and the dock house which was a quiet bar and where trivia competitions were held. Like that there are no plastic bottles on board and water stations everywhere to fill reusable bottles, also that Virgin provided free transport off the boat . The restaurants were okay and while it was nice that they were all included in the price, I was a bit disappointed by the range of vegetarian and vegan meals as they seemed to promise so much but I found the choices a bit limited. All in all we enjoyed the holiday and would recommend it.
Ship was modern, crisp and clean. We had 2 aft sea terrace rooms with balcony next to each other. Our cabin steward kindly opened up the door between the balconies so we made full use of it. Family with parents in 50s and son age 20. We all loved the hammock! Food was generally excellent and we booked restaurants every night. Galley was great too and enjoyed brunches. We loved the ice cream and ship eats delivery. Itinerary was good. We primarily wanted to see Istanbul and Ephesus but also loved Athens and our favourite port stop by far was Rhodes old town. Santorini and Mykonos were beautiful but packed. In Chania we were dropped too far from the old town. It was very hot in June. We only went to one show as just enjoyed the dining and balcony. We hope to go again. We liked that you didn’t have to dress up.
Our whole cruise experience was just incredible, people, bar staff , cabin staff truly exceptional . Food was magnificent.
Our first cruise with Virgin was always going to be in comparison with our favourite cruise line Princess. First off, the design of the Resilient Lady is magnificent, it truly is the nicest ship we've been on. The design has been carefully thought out and is excellent example of designing something that does not conform to the normal layout of a luxury cruise liner. Our cabin was spacious and extremely comfortable with ambient lighting for a different mood in the evenings and the size is typical for a balcony plus the hammock is a great way to enjoy the morning view. As for the dining experience there is much to enjoy but we found in particular the Test Kitchen to be rather poor whereas the Wake was excellent first night treat. Early booking for your favourite eatery is advisable. As we didn't know what to expect on our first voyage next time round we will know and will book in advance the Wake will be our first choice followed by Extra Virgin. Elsewhere, the food was of a great variety and of a very high standard. The one thing I found to be annoying no less was that there was music everywhere with not a single quiet spot out on the open decks which is a great shame because the ship was very relaxed on its journey to the Eastern med ports we visited. If you can handle house music with your your cornflakes or techno with your tequila then you'll be ok! But the only way to enjoy a quiet breakfast is in your cabin - a major let down in my opinion and was something we never did despite the annoyance of the music first thing The entertainment however, was up there with the best I've seen and the much fabled Scarlet Night is a bit Hedonistic for my tastes, but is great way to let it go for a great night out. Virgin clearly wants to do cruising in a different way I loved that approach but it's pitched at the American cruise market where formality is non-existent, but if you want to dress up in the evenings, you won't be out of place but to be yourself where no one will judge you is what it's all about. The one major negative was that I had my phone stolen by a shuttle bus driver in Mykonos and despite reporting it to the shore services manager we were left on our own to deal with it. If Virgin offered to call the Police on our behalf and then allowed me to file the complaint it would have sent the right message to the company Virgin used to ferry its people from the ship. That's not all, one needs to be aware of the merchants in Kusadasi when using cards to buy some of the good stuff out there as we were charged twice for the same item. Nothing to do with Virgin, but it's typical when travelling to such places. The travel insurance overed the phone and Visa stepped in to pay back the overcharge so that ended well. As veteran of nearly 30 cruises I found that I loved our trip with Virgin and will definitely book again with a trip to the Caribbean next time round but we also hankered for what Princess does well which is to look after its passengers with excellent customer service, entertainment, in a very happy atmosphere with comfortable places to sit and chill, to read a book without that bass line breathing down your neck! Richard Branson has got 90% of his vision correct for Virgin Cruises if he sorted the other 10% with a duty of care for his customers when it mattered, allocated a noise free zone out on deck he'd have the cruise market sown up in not time. . .
We loved the ship it was modern and clean. We liked the dining concept of fine dining included. All the restaurants were great particularly the Wake and Razzle Dazdle where we had the best food. Also the Test Kitchen. The portions sizes were very big for us so learnt to order less the second time visiting them. The service was outstanding particular thanks to Lisa who always came to say hello and give good advice. Harry and Uogi were amazing waiters too. There is a party atmosphere the DJ around the pool was too loud for us in the afternoon so would find a quieter spot.
Overall we enjoyed this cruise. It was our first trip with Virgin and was a little unsure of being too old for this style of boat. The food and staff were all great. We loved all the stops a- apart from Santorini where we took a view not to get off the ship as it tenders and the access to the villages is in great demand from all the other ships tendering. Unfortunately we found the facilities such as pool and sports were too small an offering and made sea days less enjoyable. Also, the entertainment on the ship was we felt geared to younger adults and Americans. For instance we attended one of the music quizzes and couldn't answer one question as very USA biased.
Resilient lady was amazing, I couldn't fault it at all! Would definately look at virgin voyages for our next cruise. The food was amazing and something for everyone. I liked the fact that virgin let you do you, none of that trying to get you to do silly things around the pool etc. Keep doing what your doing virgin.
5th time with Virgin in 2 years so that should speak volumes.
