Today's Civitavecchia was born as an Etruscan village along the Tyrrhenian coast, but it is believed that the territory has been inhabited since the Neolithic era. The first documents mentioning the city date back to the year 107 AD; the same as the construction of the port which ended three years later. During a stop in Civitavecchia you can visit the Taurine Baths, the Michelangelo Fort, and the Cathedral.
With a history dating back to the 5th century and the accolade of European Capital of Culture 2013, in Marseille you’ll find an old city full of charm to explore and pretty modern districts alike. Tuck into a classic pissaladière at the old port before visiting the famous coves of the Calanques National Park to the south- a stunning sight and only 25 minutes away by car. Before you leave don’t forget to buy a Marseille soap to give your suitcase a delicious holiday scent!
Livorno is the third most populous city in Tuscany, after Florence and Prato, as well as one of the most important Italian tourist and commercial ports. It did not hold the same importance as nearby Pisa at the time of the Maritime Republics, however. Today it is a highly modern city while rich in historical evidence of the past. You can visit the historic district of New Venice, the Old Fortress, the Mascagni Terrace, and the aquarium.
Catania is located on the eastern side of Sicily on the slopes of Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. It was founded between 729 and 728 BC by the Greeks of Chalcis and, like the other major Sicilian cities, it was subjected to the domination of different populations because of its strategic position on the sea. Among the places of artistic and cultural interest are the Ursino Castle, the Sant’Agata Cathedral, and the Benedictine Monastery.
Although the largest town in Coastal Slovenia, Koper is a hidden gem that, at first glance, may seem like a simple port city. But at the heart of this destination is fascinating medieval history just waiting to be unravelled, with the Praetorian Palace being a real highlight. Easily covered on foot, a simple stroll around the city will take you to ancient architecture, traditional taverns, shopping and wine cellars.

Having just retrned from norwegian viva the whole trip was amazing and staff exceptional Anger and his colleauges our waiters 2 nights at commodore restaurant was exceptional however i do feel the servoce in the italalian was very poor we were put on a table that hadnt been set and left for 15mins eventually one of our freinds complained and we started to get service the bread came for 6 people with only 2 bread plates on the table this was supposed to be one of our speciality meals in honesty we had better service at the cafe buffet we felt we had all waisted pur speciality meal and were all dissappointed . Good job the rest of the stafff and the cruise ship and facilitys were not tarnished by Aldos thanks for another great holiday NCL looking forward to booking our 4th cruise with NCL very soon thanks again

We loved the Viva. It felt like a brand new ship with everything being pristine and beautiful. The food was excellent in both the complementary and speciality restaurants. The staff were very attentive and the quality of food was exemplary. The only disappointing meal was in the Los Lobos restaurant which did not reach the high standard of all the other restaurants.
The cabin felt bigger than other cruise ships we have been on and we really appreciated the lovely big bathroom.
The itinerary was perfect and that is why we chose this ship and route. Ports were very interesting and most were new to us.
We loved the observation lounge for just some quieter time.
The atrium, buffet (surfside) and pools were smaller and less impressive than other ships we have been on but this did not bother us. With the buffet (Surfside) being significantly smaller, it was very busy. We often selected breakfast food and took it through to the Republic restaurant seating area. Much better was Indulge for breakfast where they had almost the same selection with a quiet, calm atmosphere. Never any issues about finding a vacant table there.
There was no significant entertainment in the theatre which was a surprise having seen some excellent shows previously. Performances we saw were;- an underwhelming magician, mediocre singers and a dull comic. Activities/entertainment in the atrium were extremely poor. For us, thankfully the theatre was not a major consideration in booking this cruise although many were disappointed.
Self led activities were great with mini golf, go karts, shuffleboard, flumes etc.
We would definitely book to go on this ship again.

As I’m Disabeled sometimes it does restrict me , nearly all of trips are never suitable for my health problems .
We did have problems on the second day of the Cruise in Hudsons , we liked to have Breakfast as we are not really into Buffet . I use a Motobility scooter , we went for lunch we was shown to a table past push chairs & one mobility scooter next to her table !!
But they took my scooter a long way from my table , I asked why push chairs without a child in the chair & the other scooter was not asked to move to another part of restaurant & no one seemed to want to understand why I was upset at double standards?!?!
We left Hudsons & sadly did not return which was sad as we loved it there!!

Monastero dei Benedettini
The ecclesiastical complex of San Nicolò "la Rena" consists of a Benedictine monastery and a church of the same name. The first structure dates back to the 12th century and owes its name to the volcanic sand that characterises the surrounding area.
