Today's Civitavecchia was born as an Etruscan village along the Tyrrhenian coast, but it is believed that the territory has been inhabited since the Neolithic era. The first documents mentioning the city date back to the year 107 AD; the same as the construction of the port which ended three years later. During a stop in Civitavecchia you can visit the Taurine Baths, the Michelangelo Fort, and the Cathedral.
La Spezia is the second largest municipality in Liguria after Genoa and is located a few tens of kilometres from the border with Tuscany. It overlooks the eponymous gulf, which is also known as the Gulf of Poets. In the city you can visit the Technical Naval Museum, the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, the Church of Nostra Signora della Neve, and the medieval Castle of San Giorgio. It is also an excellent starting point for discovering the island of Palmaria and the Cinque Terre.
Messina is a coastal city located in the north-east of Sicily and overlooks the homonymous strait, which separates the region from the rest of the Peninsula. Founded by the Greeks in the 8th century BC, a few years before Rome, it is said that the strait was the home of Scylla and Charybdis, two sea monsters described by Homer in the Odyssey. In Messina you can admire the Duomo, the Astronomical Clock and the rich Regional Museum which houses works by famous artists.
Although the largest town in Coastal Slovenia, Koper is a hidden gem that, at first glance, may seem like a simple port city. But at the heart of this destination is fascinating medieval history just waiting to be unravelled, with the Praetorian Palace being a real highlight. Easily covered on foot, a simple stroll around the city will take you to ancient architecture, traditional taverns, shopping and wine cellars.

We were travelling with another couple and were allocated cabins at different ends of the ship despite me booking both cabins. Our cabin was on deck 8 above the dance/music area so very noisy until 1 in the morning. Food was repetitive, no variation. We also had a late flight home, but was kicked off the ship by 8.30 in the morning so spent 14 hours in the airport (flight was delayed by 2 hours). Other cruise lines allow you to stay on the ship.

The ship is fine but the rooms very dark and dated.
The day at sea was very busy and not enough sun beds were put out to accommodate this.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The one brilliant thing was the singing cleaning and restaurant (washy washy) staff in the buffet restaurant at breakfast time.
Wasn't impressed with the theatre entertainment.

The Taurine Baths - a Roman archaeological site dating back to the 1st century BC - are located around 4km from the urban centre of Civitavecchia. There is a legend that says the baths came to be after a bull scraped at the ground before a fight, and in doing so uncovered a hot water spring.

It is also an excellent starting point for discovering the island of Palmaria and the Cinque Terre.
Situated in the centre of La Spezia's ancient Old Town and dating to the 14th century, the Church of Santa Maria, La Spezia has a variety of works of art and functioned as a cathedral from 1929 until the current La Spezia cathedral was built in 1975.

Additionally, it has an archaeological museum with a sizable collection of Roman artefacts that features La Spezia-related Neolithic artefacts. The earliest fortress on the site, which now stands as the fortress of San Giorgio and overlooks the city of La Spezia, was constructed in 1262.
The Church of our Lady of the Snow
Situated in the centre of the city’s main shopping street, Via Garibaldi, the Church of our Lady of the Snow was designed by architect, Ferrari d’Orsara. The Naval Technical Museum
In the 1860s, the Italian navy constructed a base in La Spezia, which later developed into one of its main dockyards and arsenals. The museum got its start in the 18th century with an exhibition of objects from the Savoy royal family's navy at Villafranca and subsequently in Genoa. In 1870, it was moved to La Spezia. Ship figureheads from the 18th and 19th centuries are among the collection's various models of ships.

Founded in 1066, St Mary’s Church is an understated yet stunning piece of architecture in Zadar. The adjoining treasury contains an exhibition of religious art, and is beautifully preserved by nuns of the church.
Zadar Walls and Gates
The most impressive of the walls and gates is the Land Gate, the main entrance into the city, built in 1543. Zadar’s walls and gates meant that the city remained uncaptured, and are now a great way to explore the surroundings on foot.

Description
In Italy's Emilia-Romagna region sits the beautiful and historic city of Ravenna. It is well-known for the vibrant mosaics that cover many of its key structures, including the cross-shaped Mausoleo di Galla Placidia, the sixth-century Basilica di Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, and the octagonal Basilica di San Vitale. Located in the centre of the city is the Mausoleo di Teodorico, a circular Gothic stone tomb that was constructed in the sixth century for King Theodoric the Great.
Italy's Ravenna is home to the Basilica of San Vitale, which houses Christian Byzantine art and architecture. Dating back to the sixth-century church, it's one of eight Ravenna buildings that have been included as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Ravenna Art Museum
This museum is one of the hubs of the city's cultural life, hosting festivals, exhibits, and collections of both modern and ancient art. It is housed in a 16th-century monastery in the Public Gardens and is responsible for resuming cultural and recreational activities in addition to significant conservation and research projects.
Basilica di Sant' Apollinare Nuovo
In Ravenna, Italy, there is a basilica church called the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo. Theodoric the Great, the Ostrogothic ruler, built it as his royal chapel in the first half of the sixth century and it was originally consecrated to "Christ the Redeemer" in 504 AD.
