One of two sleek National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions ships built specifically to traverse polar waters, National Geographic Resolution is named to honour the second voyage of legendary explorer Captain James Cook, continuing his legacy of venturing to remote regions around the world in search of the unknown. Boasting luxurious interiors, comfortable accommodation, and an exciting experience that focuses on the outside world, you’ll find plenty of panoramic windows onboard alongside scientific equipment and expedition gear to further your experience in each unique environment you visit. Onboard, you’ll also find three restaurants to choose from, with the main restaurant offering a more elegant evening meal experience, while the other options boast more intimate dining experiences. Wellness is also a huge focus for National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions, with The Sanctuary home to a variety of wellness facilities and two infinity edge pools on the Observation Deck. Exploring fascinating destinations in Antarctica, Greenland, Patagonia, Svalbard, and so much more, there’s an adventure everyone can enjoy available aboard National Geographic Resolution.

What's onboard
Dining
The dining experience available aboard National Geographic Resolution is exceptional, and surprisingly varied given the smaller size of this expedition ship. Onboard, you’ll encounter three main restaurants: Two Seven Zero, the main restaurant, Tu Pai A's Restaurant, located on the Observation Deck, and the Cook’s Nook, an intimate invite-only experience that serves multi-course menus carefully crafted and explained by the chef.
Two Seven Zero, which is the only restaurant onboard that serves hot breakfasts, you’ll find a fantastic variety of foods from around the world – and some regional specialties – available to order. Interestingly, you’ll actually need to pick your evening meal during breakfast or lunch; this is something that aims to cut down on food waste, though you can order half-portions of the dishes available each day to give yourself the chance to try more of the delicious food available.
Comparatively, Tu Pai A's Restaurant serves fresh food throughout breakfast and lunch; located on the Observation Deck, this is a popular spot to enjoy a lighter option when the scenery is nice – the views from this upper deck are spectacular. The Observation Deck is also home to a Grill, which is taken advantage of on select days during your sailing; here, you’ll find barbecue classics and an array of sides available al fresco, with stunning views of the surrounding scenery complimenting each magnificent bite.
While there’s only one option when it comes to your evening meal onboard – unless you’re invited to dine at Cook’s Nook, which tends to happen at least once per voyage – National Geographic Resolution boasts an impressive amount of dining options for a ship with a capacity of just 138 guests; so, no matter what you’re after, you’re certain to find something you’ll enjoy.
Entertainment
On National Geographic Resolution, the cruise experience really is all about the environment around you; so, you’re not going to find traditional cruise entertainment available onboard.
The Ice Lounge, which is the main entertainment space onboard, is where you’ll find the most excitement. Alongside an interesting entertainment programme that focuses on authentic cultural experiences and insightful educational events, be that live music and dancing from local performers or insightful talks from guest speakers, you’ll also find state-of-the-art audiovisual technology perfect for interesting presentations and movies.
This venue is also home to a well-stocked bar, and you’ll find more bar areas on the Observation Deck in the form of Tu Pai A's Bar – which is also home to a piano, should you want to play for your fellow cruisers – and the Observation Lounge; so, when you’re sailing, there are plenty of places to grab refreshments and socialise with friends and family.
National Geographic Resolution is also home to a well-equipped library space, with a variety of fiction and non-fiction books to read alongside several board games, and a science hub, where you can learn more about the world around you and engage in some interactive learning experiences.
Family
While National Geographic Resolution isn’t designed specifically to accommodate children, everyone is invited to share in the incredible experiences available on a voyage with National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions. So, children over the age of six months are welcome aboard this ship. It’s worth noting, though, that some of the experiences available during your voyage will feature additional age limitations. However, younger explorers with a curious nature about the environment around them will find themselves well catered-to on a National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions cruise; the crew will endeavour to make this experience as memorable as possible with interactive learning experiences and excitement at every turn.
Things to do
During your voyage aboard National Geographic Resolution, you’ll find that almost all of the activities available are related to furthering your connection with the world around you. When sailing, you’ll have the chance to learn more about the environment around you through the state-of-the-art science hub, tuck into an interesting book in the library, check out the Global Gallery space, and admire the stunning surrounding scenery in one of the several comfortable lounge spaces. Wildlife spotting is also a fantastic way to pass the time onboard, and you’ll find on-duty wildlife spotters making sure you don’t miss anything exciting while sailing.
When you’re not sailing, though, you’ll have the chance to take advantage of kayaks. Alongside Zodiac tours and excursions ashore, this is a fantastic way to get even closer to the remarkable destinations you’re exploring. The kayaking available, though, is a largely unguided experience a lot of the time. So, you’ll need to be confident in your abilities – especially when exploring icy arctic waters.
For those who prefer to pamper themselves when they’re not adventuring ashore, you’ll find comprehensive wellness facilities in The Sanctuary; this space features a yoga studio, both a tropic sauna and a Nordic sauna, multiple treatment rooms, and easy access to a lounging terrace and two aft-facing infinity edge pools. There’s also a Fitness Studio full of modern gym equipment to utilise too, meaning a comprehensive wellness journey awaits everyone who opts to sail aboard National Geographic Resolution.
Useful Information
Suite Exclusives
When booking into a suite aboard National Geographic Resolution, you’ll have the chance to enjoy exclusive amenities throughout your voyage. These include:
- Priority booking for spa treatments (one appointment per departure)
- Priority booking for igloo stays (subject to weather conditions)
- In-room espresso maker
- Complimentary laundry services
On this ship, this only applied to Category 6 and Category 7 suites (Junior Suite with Balcony and Large Balcony Suite), of which there are numerous on the Bridge Deck.
Incredible Igloos
On National Geographic Resolution, you’ll have the opportunity to book an Igloo – exclusive glass domes that you can actually stay in overnight. Aft-facing, and right by the two infinity edge pools, these Igloos are ideal for sightseeing and offer a unique experience to everyone who decides to spend a night under the stars (or, if you’re sailing in the Arctic during the summer months, the near-endless daylight).
Inside, you’ll find eye masks and ear plugs to help you sleep, plenty of blankets, heated water bottles for warm beverages, and bathrobes. Although, you won’t find any power outlets here, so it’s important to charge any mobile devices before you settle in for the evening.
Although, it’s not as though you’re locked into your Igloo, so there’s nothing stopping you from enjoying the infinity edge pools in the early hours, heading back to your stateroom for something you forgot, or even finding a better spot for wildlife watching when the Observation Deck is a little emptier.
