What's onboard

Dining

Dining on National Geographic Gemini is as much of an adventure as heading ashore via Zodiac. Due to the intimate size of this vessel, which has enough staterooms to accommodate just 48 guests at a time, you’ll only find one restaurant onboard. However, the dishes you’ll be enjoying during dining times in that restaurant are second-to-none; featuring regional foods and flavours, with locally-sourced ingredients wherever possible, the culinary adventure you’ll go on every time you sit down to eat will only enhance your expedition experience further.

If, though, you’re hoping to enjoy something delicious with a view, you’ll be pleased to know that you’ll also find an outdoor dining area on the Lounge Deck. This aft-facing space is the perfect place to spot wildlife and admire the surrounding scenery while sailing, and tucking into something tasty. Even if you’re eating, you won’t need to worry about missing anything exciting – or catching the last bit of the sun as it starts to set.

Entertainment

A rather intimately-sized ship with just one lounge space, the entertainment available onboard National Geographic Gemini is low-key and often centered around furthering your connection to the environment around you. So, when you’re not spending your time socialising in the lounge space – which does feature a well-stocked bar – or soaking up the sunshine on the Upper Deck, you’ll have the opportunity to attend informative presentations from onboard experts. You’ll also find a series of informal gatherings and onboard events to participate in, which will often be hosted in the lounge area; just don’t expect much in the way of Broadway-style musical performances or Cabaret – this ship simply doesn’t have the facilities to accommodate this more-traditional cruise entertainment.

There is, though, a small library area within the lounge space; stocked with books and board games, you’ll always find something interesting to occupy your time with here.

Ultimately, though, an adventure aboard National Geographic Gemini is about the world around you and appreciating the environment you’re cruising through; when it comes to the Galapagos archipelago, you’ll always find something interesting to admire when you’re onboard – be that the passing scenery or native wildlife.

Family

Despite the fact that National Geographic Gemini isn’t explicitly designed to accommodate children, everyone is invited to share in the experiences available on a National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions adventure. So, children over the ages of six months are welcome aboard; although, it’s worth keeping in mind that some of the experiences available are unsuitable for younger children, so additional age limits may apply.

With that being said, on select voyages, younger explorers with a curious nature about the environment around them can participate in National Geographic’s Explorers-in-Training programme – which aims to enhance their experiences onboard and on-shore with more interactive learning experiences and unique activities. Beyond that, though, the crew will endeavour to make each adventure as memorable as possible, with explorers of all ages able to look forward to an exciting experience.

Things to do

The time you spend onboard National Geographic Gemini is all about relaxation, and appreciating the environment around you, so that is at the heart of everything onboard – including the recreational activities.

On this ship’s Upper Deck, you’ll find a bubbling whirlpool hot tub to soak in alongside a small spa area and a Fitness Center. The availability of these on such a small ship is uncommon, and a testament to how important National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions considers your wellness on an adventurous expedition voyage. You’ll find a comprehensive selection of spa services available, and the Fitness Center is equipped with a variety of modern gym equipment; so, you’ll be able to unwind or work up a sweat while sailing aboard National Geographic Gemini.

In addition to this, and the Global Gallery boutique shopping experience you’ll find by Reception, National Geographic Gemini boasts an impressive selection of watersports equipment for you to take advantage of during select stops on your itinerary. With kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, and snorkelling gear, you’ll have the chance to get even closer to the environment around you during your National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions cruise.

If you want to immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscape around you, then a cruise aboard National Geographic Gemini is certainly the right choice.
