What's onboard
Dining
A small catamaran-style ship with space for just 16 guests at a time, the dining experience you’ll encounter on National Geographic Delfina is an intimate, yet casual, affair.
On the main deck, you’ll find an adequately-sized dining room; this is where you’ll enjoy most of your meals, with both regional dishes and international flavours present on each menu. These meals are all prepared with locally-sourced produce and ocean-to-table ingredients, where possible, too – something that will further connect you with the environment around you. With so few people onboard, everything you enjoy here will be freshly-prepared and tailored to suit your tastes – so, don’t be afraid to speak with the chef if there’s a certain ingredient you’d rather avoid in an upcoming meal.
You’ll also find an al fresco dining area on the Upper Deck, meaning you’ll be able to enjoy some incredible food while admiring the stunning island scenery surrounding you. This aft-facing dining area is also an ideal place for wildlife spotting; you’ll never miss a moment of excitement while onboard, even when eating!
Entertainment
The entertainment you’ll come across when sailing aboard National Geographic Delfina is decidedly low-key, and the amenities onboard offer a relaxing alternative to the stage productions and nightclubs you’ll find on larger ships sailing elsewhere.
Onboard, you’ll find a comfortable lounge space, with a well-stocked bar, where you can sit and socialise with your fellow expedition cruisers. This is also where you’ll be able to listen to all the interesting talks and intriguing presentations given by the naturalists and experts onboard. This area is also home to a small library, with books and board games to take advantage of when sailing. Beyond this, though, the entertainment available onboard is largely what you make it.
Ultimately, when sailing around the Galapagos Islands aboard National Geographic Delfina, the world around you is the real entertainment, and you’ll always find something interesting to look at when cruising through this awe-inspiring archipelago.
Family
While National Geographic Delfina isn’t designed to specifically accommodate children, everyone is invited to share in the incredible experiences available on a voyage with National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions. So, children over the age of six months are welcome aboard this catamaran-style ship; however, some of the experiences available are unsuitable for younger children, and additional age limits may apply.
Although, on select voyages, younger explorers with a curious nature about the world around them will be able to participate in National Geographic’s Explorers-in-Training programme – something that aims to further enhance their experiences onboard and ashore with more interactive learning and exciting activities. Beyond this, though, the crew will endeavour to make each moment as memorable as possible, with excitement at every turn for explorers of all ages.
Things to do
When you’re sailing on National Geographic Delfina, you’ll find that almost everything available onboard is related to furthering your connection to the environment around you – or, relaxing after a busy day exploring the Galapagos Islands. So, when you’re not enjoying some incredible locally-sourced food in the dining room, or al fresco on the Upper Deck, you’ll have the chance to learn more about the islands around you from books in the library, socialise with your fellow expedition cruisers in the lounge, or soak up the sunshine on the Observation Deck. This top deck is also home to a bubbling whirlpool hot tub, which makes for an excellent spot to unwind while enjoying the dramatic scenery surrounding you.
