MSCme App didn’t work and we had to keep asking for a paper copy of the information. Reduced staffing means longer waiting times and very busy waiters who forget orders. The outside cabin was cosy but had the smallest shower I have seen on over 10 cruises. The food was very good and the main dining room was lovey.

The ship was clean and the staff friendly. The breakfast food was normally tepid, and the evening buffet did not have much of a choice. This has not been a problem on the bigger MSC ships i. e. Virtuosa and WorldEuropa. The itinerary was good and Istanbul is well worth a visit. The shore excursions had very good guides, though expensive for what was included

Itinerary was our highlight. We were privileged to be able to upgrade to a balcony, being treated as having booked a suite with priority tender tickets. The room was lovely with a walk in wardrobe, ok little things like the silicone hanging off the side off the bath, the strip on the drawers being only held on by one piece of cellotape, these would have made dating less noticeable, some customers would downgrade a rating but the attention of staff in the restaurants, and bars (except pool bars) was great.
Pool bars can be a mission, until you realise the system (that's mostly in place). Ultimately we couldn't have visited 4 of our bucket list countries without Lirica, other liners are far more expensive. Food in restaurants was nice, although some days have too many obscure or unappetising options on the list, for some! I'm sure others would relish. Entertainment seemed ok. Shows were ok too. We were pleased to have a balcony as we don't enjoy being in the midst of hustle and bustle.

We travelled Aurea class and had anytime dining for the evening meal. On an Italian cruise the food was mainly directed towards the Italian clientele but with the assistance of the restaurant staff were able to find good food for our British taste. We were equally well served for breakfast and mid day meals. the Salmon and scrambled eggs breakfast were delicious
Our cabin was spacious and well equipped. We even had a bath in addition to the shower.
Overall the package was great

Lake Como is one of Italy’s most idyllic locations, with visitors flocking here from all over the world for many centuries. The serene beauty of the lake and surrounding shores offers a level of peace and tranquillity that can be hard to find in today’s modern world, which is why so many people come to take a deep breath and relax. As well as amazing views, the Lake Como area has a rich history and many fascinating sites to see. These include Piona Abbey, Como Cathedral, and San Fedele Church – all of which display intricate architecture of varying styles and periods. Wander around the streets imagining years gone by, and take time to simply enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.
Located in the original site of a Romanesque church, the building of Como Cathedral began ten years after the Milan Cathedral, in the late 14th century. Statues of Pliny the Elder and his nephew Pliny the Younger welcome visitors; standing proudly on the façade of the building. These are now sheltered by glass cases to avoid further environmental damage. Inside there are important tapestries and paintings depicting various saints and biblical/historical scenes.
Varenna Village
This gorgeous and peaceful location is an ancient fishing village with a romantic and calm atmosphere, where visitors can come and enjoy the slow pace of life. The area has a rich and interesting history, in no small part due to the rivalry with nearby commune Como. It is home to the Villa Monestero, a convent founded in the early 13th century by some religious folk who had escaped from Comacina Island during the Milan/Como war at this time.
Piona Abbey
Located close to Lake Como’s shoreline, Piona Abbey is believed to date back to as early as the 7th century, as documents attesting to its existence have been found from around this time. The impressive structure is stood on top of Olgiasca Hill, and boasts interesting architecture and frescos. There is also a small shop selling natural wares made by the resident monks such as honey, liquor, cream, and medicinal herbs.
San Fedele Church
The Basilica di San Fedele was built in the year 1120, and is believed to stand on top of ruins of an older place of worship. Found in the main town square – the Piazza San Fedele – the church has long been important in the town’s history. The architecture is Romanesque style, but the façade was refurbished in 1914 and now includes a Renaissance style window.
Bellagio
Referred to by many as the ‘Pearl of Lake Como’, the picturesque town of Bellagio offers a quintessential Italian atmosphere, gorgeous views, and a number of interesting historical and architectural sites. Wander down cobbled streets, take a look at the 12th century Chiesa San Giacomo, and admire the Villas Serbelloni and Melzi. Villa Serbelloni was first built in the 15th century, and over the years has been a gorgeous holiday home and hotel at Lake Como. Many famous figures have stayed there including John F Kennedy, Winston Churchill, and Al Pacino. Today the property is owned by the Rockefeller Foundation.

A stunning site overlooking a beautiful beach, Montaza Palace is an impressive palace housing a unique museum and surrounded by extensive gardens. Originally built by Khedive Abbas II, the last Muhammad Ali Dynasty ruler of the region, in 1892 as a hunting lodge and residence for his companion, Montaza Palace was expanded upon by King Fuad I in 1932 and transformed into an elegant summer palace. Blending Ottoman and Florentine architectural styles, this is now an official presidential residence, with the palace being used as recently as 2011 by former president Hosni Mubarak. Both the surrounding gardens and the museum within are open to the public, with the museum focusing on the Muhammad Ali Dynasty family history and objects d’art collected over the years.
Serapeum of Alexandria
Often referred to as the daughter of the Great Library of Alexandria, and an ancient site that now lies in ruins, the Serapeum of Alexandria was an ancient Greek temple built during the reign of Ptolemy III Euergetes (246 BC to 222 BC). It was widely regarded as the largest, and most magnificent, of the temples in the Greek quarter of Alexandria and it also housed an offshoot collection of works from the Great Library of Alexandria until its closure in 392 AD. Largely destroyed by Roman soldiers the year before, and a site largely considered the final stronghold of the pagans during a series of riots, Pompey’s Pillar is the only notable structure remaining above ground on the site. An impressive column constructed circa 300 AD to celebrate Roman emperor Diocletian, it’s the only ancient monument in the city still standing in its original location.
Alexandria National Museum
Located in a renovated Italian-style palace which once housed the United States consulate, the Alexandria National Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history when visiting this remarkable city on the Mediterranean Sea. The building itself dates back to 1926 and was once used as an important meeting place for the affluent among Alexandria’s citizens. Housing around 1,800 artefacts with exhibitions and collections on Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece, alongside the Roman Empire and Alexandria’s more modern history throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, there’s a lot to learn about this city and Egypt as a whole in this former three-storey palace.

Drink packages are non-transferable and cannot be shared with other guests, being valid for one drink per order. Violation of these terms may result in cancellation of a guest's package without entitlement to a refund or credit of any kind.
Packages are sold on a per cruise basis and not per day or any other basis. The price applies to all days of the cruise except the day of disembarkation. Once activated on board, packages cannot be cancelled or refunded. Packages must be booked by all guests occupying the same cabin, travelling together and wishing to dine at the same table. This includes minors, for whom the Minors Package must be booked.
If you wish to dine together you must be on the same drinks package. Regardless of which drinks package you choose, a Minors Package must be purchased for all children within the travel party. For example, if you're travelling in a group of two adults and two children, both adults must be on the same package and the children on the Minors Package.
The package is not compulsory for children under 3 years of age (i.e. who have not yet reached their third birthday). The following items are not included in the package: tobacco, souvenir glasses, ice cream menu, retail items, minibar and room service. The following exclusions apply: tobacco, souvenir glasses, ice cream menu, retail items, minibar, room service, promotions and Signature Venues (Venchi 1878, Jean-Philippe Maury venues, MSC Virtuosa Starship Club) regardless of the price of the drinks. You must be of legal age to consume alcohol. Other terms and conditions may apply. Guests under the legal drinking age with respect to the ship's operating area are not permitted to purchase or consume alcohol. Drinks and liquor may be substituted according to availability and itinerary.
Please note, if you have purchased a drinks package after 18th December 2024 and are departing on a sailing from 1st April 2025 onwards, you will have a limit of 15 alcoholic drinks per person, per day. There is no cap on non-alcoholic drinks and you'll have the option to purchase additional alcoholic drinks. This is also applicable for MSC Yacht Club guests. However, if you have purchased your drinks package before 18th December 2024, OR your sailing is before April 1st 2025 this limit does not apply.
Please be advised that in respect to the Saudi Law, alcohol will not be served during the Calls in Saudi Arabian ports. Alcohol will be available to our guests when the ship sails in International Waters.
